Vermentino di Gallura Superiore by Sa Raja is made near Monte Limbara, in the north of Sardinia, about 500 meters above sea level from vines over 15 years old. The Mediterranean climate, cooled by the Mistral and the breezes of the Strait of Bonifacio, are the ideal habitat for Vermentino. It is raised for 8 months on the lees and aged for 2 months in the bottle. It is a fresh, savory and fragrant white, which perfectly interprets the sunny and windy character of northern Sardinia. Harmonious, round, it recalls fresh spring fruit and aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. Deep, intense, prolonged and salty, with a finish of great balance. Particularly suitable for combinations with seafood dishes.
Sa Raja is a young project that was born in the shadow of Monte Limbara, at the meeting point between the forces of nature in Sardinia: the hardness of the granite rock, the freshness of the winds from the North, the reverberation of the sea and the warmth of the sun. . In this spectacular scenario the production of the cellar comes to life, an extremely territorial production that promises to give a faithful representation of the land from which it originates. The bottles that are born from this promise give authentic sips, immediately appreciable. Sa Raja literally means "furrow" in Sardinian language, indicating the sign that the winery intends to trace in the Gallura area with the aim of fully enhancing the vineyards and their fruits. The vineyards of Sa Raja extend to about 500 meters above sea level in the municipalities of Telti, Calangianus and Monti and are surrounded by holm oaks, secular cork forests, Mediterranean scrub and Helichrysum. The rows of Vermentino, Cannonau and Carignano rest on sandy soils of granite origin and are crossed by winds from the North-East and North- West, the Mistral and the Grecale, which protect them from excessive humidity and allow the sun to embrace each grape. The Sa Raja production turned out to be, from the first harvest, a declination of the territory from which it comes to life: each label is capable of evoking the power of pink granite, the freshness of the sea and the winds, the warmth and intensity of sun and the scents of Mediterranean vegetation. As young as it is, in fact, the Cellar has proved capable of giving life to balanced and extremely characteristic bottles, which without pretensions know how to tell about the vineyard and the nature that surrounds it. This reality stands out precisely in this: the ability to have clear ideas and an excellent ability to execute, which made it possible to immediately obtain absolutely appreciable results. In addition to the immediate pleasure that resides in the glass, one wonders what other surprises these labels will reserve for the next harvests!
