Northern Rhône
Northern Rhône, a prestigious wine region in southeastern France, stretches along the banks of the river between Vienne and Valence.
The red wines are dominated by Syrah, which expresses aromatic intensity, spicy notes, structure, and long aging potential. The whites, from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne, offer floral aromas, yellow fruit, and an elegant texture.
The main appellations include Côte-Rôtie, renowned for elegance and complexity; Hermitage, a symbol of power and longevity; Cornas, characterized by intense and structured reds; Saint-Joseph, more accessible but of increasing quality; Crozes-Hermitage, the largest and most versatile; and Condrieu, the realm of Viognier, with aromatic and velvety whites.
The terroir, marked by steep granite slopes, optimal sun exposure, and river influences that mitigate the continental climate, creates unique conditions for wines with great identity and recognition.
