Northern Rhône
Northern Rhône, a prestigious wine region in southeastern France, stretches along the river between Vienne and Valence.
Red wines are dominated by Syrah, offering aromatic intensity, spice, structure, and long aging potential. Whites from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne deliver floral notes, yellow fruit, and refined texture.
Key appellations include Côte-Rôtie, known for elegance and complexity; Hermitage, symbol of power and longevity; Cornas, with deep and structured reds; Saint-Joseph, approachable yet high-quality; Crozes-Hermitage, the largest and most versatile; and Condrieu, the heartland of Viognier, producing aromatic, velvety whites.
The terroir, with steep granite slopes, optimal sun exposure, and the river’s moderating effect, shapes wines of strong identity and character.
