Bordeaux: Saint-Emilion

Saint-Émilion, a prestigious appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, is renowned for elegant, age-worthy red wines. 

Merlot dominates, complemented by Cabernet Franc and touches of Cabernet Sauvignon. The terroir, a patchwork of deep clay, porous limestone, sand, and gravel, provides structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity.

The classification includes “Saint-Émilion Grand Cru” and the “Premiers Grands Crus Classés A and B”, a unique system revised periodically to reward excellence and reputation. The medieval village and its vineyards are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
