The 'Latour a Civitella' by Sergio Mottura is a pure Grechetto whose assembly is made up of the best grapes from the five vineyards of Grechetto clone Poggio della Costa, and it is fermented in French oak barriques. With an intense golden yellow color, it has an elegant and complex aromatic impact, with hints of white fruit, citrus, melted butter, and hazelnut. A wine that is definitely full-bodied, soft, and pleasantly fresh with a persistent finish of fruit and vanilla. It pairs well with savory dishes with strong flavors: perfect with onion soup, Tuscan ribollita, Livorno-style cod, roast goose, chicken, and rabbit with peppers or with highly spiced dishes like all curries or, again, gazpacho.

THE WINE
The 'Latour a Civitella' by Sergio Mottura is a pure Grechetto whose blend includes the best grapes from the five vineyards of Grechetto clone Poggio della Costa, and it is fermented in French oak barriques. With an intense golden yellow color, it has an elegant and complex olfactory impact, with hints of white fruit, citrus, melted butter, and hazelnut. It is a decidedly full-bodied wine, soft and pleasantly fresh with a persistent finish of fruit and vanilla. It pairs well with savory dishes with strong flavors: perfect with onion soup, Tuscan ribollita, Livornese-style cod, roast goose, chicken and rabbit with peppers, or with strongly spiced dishes like all curries or, also, gazpacho.THE ESTATE
One hundred thirty hectares, of which 36 are planted with vines, extend between the clay hills of Civitella d'Agliano and the Umbrian plain washed by the Tiber. We are located in the province of Viterbo, in an area dedicated to viticulture since 1292, as evidenced by some historical documents in the archives. The Mottura estate has been owned by the eponymous family since 1933, and has been managed since the 1960s by Sergio Mottura, under whose guidance the company has gone through significant phases of renewal, both in terms of new plantings and cellar activities. Following the rules of organic farming, the rigorous search for maximum ecological balance represents one of the company’s beliefs, and even in the cellar, winemaking excludes any chemical intervention, making it as natural as possible. By re-evaluating indigenous grape varieties and conducting practical experiments in the field, the wines of Sergio Mottura are rich, intoxicating, persistent, vigorous, and enveloping. Unique and excellent labels, starting from the “Latour a Civitella,” the first white wine from Lazio ever awarded the 3 glasses recognition by the “Vini d’Italia” guide of Gambero Rosso.
