Vitovska

The Vitouska grape variety is a native Slovenian present in the entire Karst area, both in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and on the Slovenian side. Its name seems to come from the locality of Vipacco, today in Slovenia (Vitovlje), beyond the border it is known as Vitovska Gargania, and has been present in this area since time immemorial. It is best known with the synonym of Vitovska. Until a few years ago it was almost exclusively vinified in blends, but recently the tendency to rediscover the autochthonous and forgotten vines and the enological qualities of this variety have meant that more and more producers propose it purified wine.

Vitovska by Skerk is produced with pure grapes of the homonymous vine, grown in Ograde, the watershed between Italy and Slovenia. Amazing border white wine, from organic farming, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in wooden barrels and maceration for a few days on the skins. No clarification or filtration before bottling. Extraordinary bouquet for spontaneity and definition, notes of melba peach, wild herbs, honey and eucalyptus. Persuasive and creamy taste, with a saline charge that lengthens its persistence considerably. Awesome.
