The 'Giovin Re' by Michele Satta is a pure Viognier and comes from a happy intuition of Michele. The grapes are harvested at full ripeness, and the must ferments in old barriques. The wine ages in wood for 6 months, without undergoing malolactic fermentation, before being filtered and bottled. A full and harmonious white. It is enhanced when paired with dishes of strong personality, savory and spicy.

Michele Satta

In the enchanting setting of Tuscany, specifically among the golden vineyards of Bolgheri, the winery Michele Satta stands as a pioneer of authentic and innovative wine expression. From the very beginning, Michele Satta has pursued a dream: to create wines that embody the soul of the territory, respecting tradition but looking towards the future. With a handcrafted and personal approach, Satta has carved out a significant place in the Tuscan wine scene, establishing himself as one of the first Bolgheri producers to experiment beyond classic boundaries.
The vineyards, caressed by the sea breeze and kissed by the sun, offer fertile ground for grape varieties that tell stories of passion and dedication. Among these, Sangiovese, Syrah, and Teroldego find in the winery of Michele Satta a privileged stage to express their unique potential. Respect for the land and for natural cycles guides every phase of production, from the careful cultivation of the grapes to the creation of wines that challenge conventions.
Among the standout labels, Piastraia and Cavaliere stand out for their personality and complexity. Piastraia, with its refined structure, enchants with intense aromas and a gustatory depth that evolves over time, while Cavaliere seduces with its elegance and harmonious blend of fruity and spicy notes. These wines not only celebrate the peculiarities of the Bolgheri terroir but also represent the culmination of Michele Satta's winemaking art, an art that knows how to excite and surprise.
Let yourself be transported by the magic and passion of the wines of Michele Satta, available on Vino45, and begin a journey to discover flavors that tell the story of a generous land and a visionary producer.

THE WINE

The 'Giovin Re' by Michele Satta is a pure Viognier and originates from a fortunate intuition of Michele. The grapes are harvested at full ripeness, and the must ferments in old barriques. The wine matures in wood for 6 months, without undergoing malolactic fermentation, before being filtered and bottled. A full-bodied and harmonious white. It is enhanced when paired with dishes of strong personality, savory and spicy.
THE COMPANY

The company was founded in 1983, the year before the foundation of the Bolgheri DOC, in which I was one of the first protagonists.
After an initial precarious period, linked to fractional rents, in 1987 I finally managed to establish the first core of the company with the purchase of the best available land and the construction of the cellar.
In 1991, I planted my first vineyard with the awareness of wanting to produce a wine that could be faithful to the path traced by Sassicaia and Ornellaia, but also to my personal vision and experience of the vineyard. Hence the need to accompany Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with the grapes that I believed could express the Mediterranean terroir of Bolgheri even better: Sangiovese and Syrah.
Thus Piastraia is born, which with the 2012 vintage, after more than 15 years from the first bottling (the first label is from 1994), we promote to the mention “Bolgheri Superiore”. This wine is therefore placed in the short but prestigious history of Bolgheri not only as a pioneer but as my conscious identity of the denomination.
In addition to Piastraia and the classic Bolgheri, including the other Superiore “I Castagni”, cru of the homonymous vineyard, I decided to produce wines that were the expression of individual grape varieties: “Cavaliere”, 100% Sangiovese; “Syrah” 100% Syrah and “Giovin Re”, 100% Viognier.
Certainly counter-trend, I have earned a reputation as an original producer in Bolgheri, but also as an explorer. I was the first to bring Syrah, Teroldego, and Viognier to this land, to vinify Vermentino and Sangiovese in purity.
What matters most to me is to express the uniqueness of this fascinating product that originates from a specific territory, from a specific vineyard, and from a man who interacts with them.
In the family-run company with a stable size of 23 hectares, I currently produce 150,000 bottles obtained entirely from grapes grown on my own.
