The Grappa di Moscato Riserva 2015 from Antica Distilleria di Altavilla, a historic Piedmontese producer specialized in single-varietal aged grappas, belongs to the prestigious Riserve line. Produced in Castagnole Monferrato (Asti) by six generations of master distillers, it is made from fresh pomace steam-distilled with careful head and tail cuts. It then matures in oak casks and barriques of cherry, chestnut, almond, and French oak, giving elegance and complexity. Smooth and fruity, with notes of vanilla and berries, it pairs with dry pastries and dark chocolate, or serves as a meditation spirit after meals.

THE DISTILLERY

Started in 1846 by Filippo Mazzetti, the family's distillery activity has been passed down from father to son up to the present day through six generations. Every year, in the Antica Distilleria di Altavilla, the best pomace from Monferrato is collected to create several single-variety grappas. Obtained from very fresh pomace and distilled with steam stills, after careful and meticulous discarding of the heads and tails, the grappas are stored for several years in fine oak barrels and in cherry, chestnut, almond, and French oak barriques; until they reach a complete harmony of taste and aroma, maintaining intact the floral and fruity notes. They are the result of a production process handed down with passion and wisdom to the current owner, Filippo Mazzetti, together with his wife Laura and sons Fabrizio and Alessandro.
