The Grappa di Malvasia Riserva 2007 Unfiltered from Antica Distilleria di Altavilla, a historic Piedmontese producer specialized in single-varietal aged grappas, is crafted in Castagnole Monferrato from six generations of artisanal tradition. The fresh Malvasia pomace is steam-distilled with strict separation of heads and tails, then aged in oak casks and barriques of cherry, chestnut, almond, and French oak. The result is a grappa delicate, fruity, and intensely aromatic, enriched with spicy and vanilla notes. The absence of filtration gives body and persistence, perfect with dark chocolate, dry pastries, or blue cheeses.

THE DISTILLERY

Started in 1846 by Filippo Mazzetti, the family's distilling activity has been passed down from father to son to the present day through six generations. Every year, the best pomace from Monferrato is brought to the Antica Distilleria di Altavilla to create various single-variety grappas. Obtained from very fresh pomace and distilled with steam stills, after a careful and meticulous separation of heads and tails, the grappas are aged for several years in fine oak barrels and in barrels of cherry, chestnut, almond, and French oak; until they reach complete harmony of taste and aroma, while maintaining intact floral and fruity notes. They are the result of a production process passed down with passion and wisdom to the current owner, Filippo Mazzetti, along with his wife Laura and sons Fabrizio and Alessandro.
