The Casg Annamh Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Aberlour, whose name in Gaelic means “rare cask”, is born from a unique maturation process that uses three different types of wood: a European sherry oak cask and two different American oak casks. This process gives the whisky a special character, complex, full-bodied, and smooth, yet at the same time lively. The aromatic profile is distinguished by fruity notes of apple, touches of oriental spices, dried fruit, and vanilla, with an elegant balance between sweetness and citrus freshness. Ideal for sipping neat, it perfectly accompanies grilled red meats, aged cheeses, and desserts made with dark chocolate.

Here, amidst landscapes rich in history and tradition, Aberlour has emerged as a beacon of excellence in the world of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The distillery's roots are founded on an unwavering dedication to quality and craftsmanship, a commitment that is reflected in every drop of its fine spirits.
The carefully and skillfully cultivated malted barley is the key ingredient that gives life to Aberlour whiskies, celebrated for their rich and spicy complexity. These creations are aged in sherry casks, a process that imparts a robust body and an unparalleled depth of flavors. Among the most iconic labels are the A’bunadh, the 12-year, and the 16-year, each with a unique story to tell on the palate. The A’bunadh is a tribute to tradition, an explosion of intense and spicy aromas, while the 12 and 16-year offer a sensory journey through notes of dried fruit, spices, and that typical warmth that only a Speyside whisky can provide.

THE WHISKY

THE DISTILLERY

Whisky is one of the most famous and consumed spirits in the world, whose origins trace back to the Scottish and Irish territories; in fact, these are two states where the cultivation of grains, from whose fermentation whisky is obtained, was very common, and along with other evidence and clues, nothing seems to doubt that the origin of this nectar is indeed in these places. Particularly in Scotland, among the many producing realities, there is one that can boast a history shrouded in mystery and legend: Aberlour, a distillery named after the homonymous place where it is located. A peculiar location, where a river flows whose waters were considered by ancient Celtic populations as healing; indeed, it was the Celts who first used these waters to distill the alcohol necessary to create healing elixirs to be administered to the sick. The distillery was founded by James Fleming in 1879; James took care of every little detail of the building, with the desire to create something unique, where the best possible Whisky could be produced. James died in 1895, and from that moment the ownership of Aberlour passed into the hands of different companies, until in 1975 it was acquired by the large group Pernod Ricard. Since then, many improvements have been made to the buildings and machinery, with the use of new technologies that start from respecting history to look towards future perspectives. Aberlour produces 6 labels, with different aging periods, ranging from a minimum of 12 years to a maximum of 18; some Whiskies also mature in the renowned "Sherry casks," which are barrels that once contained the precious fortified Portuguese wine. A particular note of merit goes to the "A’Bunadh" – a word that means "original" in Gaelic –, produced to pay homage to the founder Fleming, distilled without any cold filtration or other modern processes, but created following only the most ancient local traditions.
