THE DISTILLERY
The Benromach Distillery was established in 1898 by a liquor merchant, F. W. Brickman, who partnered with Duncan Mc Callum, then the owner of Glen Nevis distillery. The history of Benromach, located in Forres in the north of Scotland, is marked by continuous changes of ownership and periods of closure of varying lengths, caused by prohibition, the whisky crisis, the economic depression of the 1930s, and the world wars. However, since 1993, the company has been owned by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, which has been credited with bringing the distillery to produce whisky of excellent quality. Using the finest natural ingredients, starting from water that springs from the nearby Romach Hills, and respecting the necessary slowness in executing each phase of the distillation process, the whiskies labeled Benromach are all well-balanced and appropriately smoky, distinguished by achieving the highest degree of perfection.
