The Single Malt The Matsui 'Mizunara Cask' by Matsui Whisky is a Japanese whisky aged in Japanese Mizunara oak casks before being bottled at 48% without the addition of coloring agents. The water used for dilution comes from the springs of Mount Daisen. The limited edition packaging is inspired by the work of Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most famous ukiyo-e artists. It has a fresh and floral bouquet with notes of vanilla, pear, cinnamon, and a light dusting of powdered sugar. On the palate, it is smooth with notes of barley malt, cinnamon, caramel, and honey. The finish is of medium persistence with notes of caramel, honey, vanilla, and tea leaves with floral hints.

Matsui Whisky

In an enchanted corner of Japan, where the mountains embrace the sky and crystal-clear waters flow like ancient melodies, stands the Matsui distillery. Here, among breathtaking landscapes, the tradition of the distilling art comes to life in a perfect blend of nature and human mastery. Matsui is more than just a distillery: it is a sanctuary of flavor, where barley and pure mountain water transform into poetic and refined elixirs.
Even though the world of Japanese whisky is young compared to the Scottish one, Matsui is quickly establishing itself as an excellence on the international scene. Indeed, the distillery has managed to combine the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship with an innovative approach, creating whiskies of rare finesse and balance. Its secret lies in the purity of the raw materials and the meticulous dedication with which every drop is distilled and refined.
One of the emblems of this dedication is The Kurayoshi Pure Malt, a symphony of aromas and flavors that evoke the landscape from which it comes. Each sip is a sensory journey that traverses nuances of dried fruit, vanilla, and spices, with a smooth and persistent finish that invites reflection and contemplation. This whisky represents the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, a liquid work of art that speaks of the Japanese land and soul.

THE DISTILLERY
Matsui Whisky, founded by the Japanese entrepreneur Shuzo Matsui, was established as an important selector and producer of exceptional Japanese whisky, sake, and shochu, a typical Japanese drink obtained from the fermentation and subsequent distillation of sweet potatoes, barley, rice, or sesame. The Matsui Distillery is located in Tottori, the capital and prefecture of Honshū island, along the western coast of Japan, famous for its sand dunes and its original Japanese whisky. The Tottori Whisky by Matsui is indeed a blended Japanese whisky known and appreciated worldwide for its elegance and refinement, with a smooth and clean taste, offered in various bottlings and types to satisfy even the most refined palates. Matsui Whisky also produces and bottles perhaps the most representative line of the company: the Kurayoshi. This range takes its name from the Kurayoshi Distillery, a distillery controlled and managed by Matsui, which has been producing this Japanese whisky directly with artisanal methods and in small batches for several years. The company's philosophy is as simple as it is captivating, namely to provide the consumer with the best possible experience, enjoying a sip of Japanese tradition and culture. The small distillery uses simple ingredients, such as spring water from the Daisen Mountains and the extensive experience of its staff to ensure this excellence, offering various Pure Malt whiskies in the “Kurayoshi” line and Blended Japanese Whisky with the “The Tottori” line.
