The Ballantine’s Blended Scotch Whisky 30 Years Old is crafted from rare whiskies aged at least 30 years, some from distilleries now closed. With a deep golden-yellow hue, it opens on elegant aromas of pear and peach, enriched by vanilla, honey and subtle smoky notes. The palate is complex and powerful, balancing floral and fruity nuances that lead to a long, spicy finish. Slow oak cask aging imparts a velvety, lasting structure. Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water, it pairs with extra dark chocolate, aged cheeses and fine cigars, reserved for special occasions due to its exclusivity.

THE WHISKY

The Ballantine’s Blended Scotch Whisky 30 Years Old is crafted from rare whiskies aged at least 30 years, some from distilleries now closed. THE DISTILLERY

George Ballantine started his business at the age of just nineteen, later passing on his blending experience to his sons George II, Archibald, and Daniel, as well as to his grandson George III. All of them contributed to forging the undisputed reputation of their whisky. In 1895, Ballantine & Son even received an honor from Queen Victoria, the highest recognition testifying to the prestige of the company. The first blended whisky of the Ballantine’s family was the Finest, in 1910, which still stands as the oldest recipe in the current product range. Every day, almost 200,000 bottles of Finest are sold worldwide, demonstrating a quality that endures over time.
The next master blender was George Robertson, who was not related to the Ballantine family. Having inherited this position after World War I and 13 years of prohibition, he found himself with many casks of aged whisky. George Robertson created the first 17-year-old aged scotch (which still holds the reputation of being the most renowned) and the prestigious Ballantine’s 30.
Jack Goudy continued our tradition of excellence with the 12-year-old aged blend. He also taught the craft to two future master blenders, ensuring a long life for the quality of Ballantine’s products. Jack explained to his apprentices the importance of sourcing the best scotch and aging them in the finest American oak casks. Since then, new American oak casks arrive every year, guaranteeing the high quality and flavor as always.
Robert Hicks, a perfectionist in the whisky world, was the first talent to flourish thanks to Goudy’s teachings. Before becoming master blender, he worked with Jack for 24 years. His nose for whisky was known to all.
Sandy Hyslop, the current master blender and the second talent trained by Goudy, loves to introduce novelties at Ballantine’s. Extremely prolific professionally, he is responsible for introducing new whisky flavors, such as Ballantine’s Brasil and Hard Fired. Sandy has also added Ballantine’s 40, a product of which he is particularly proud, as well as the ultimate expression of aged whisky in the range. Sandy, with his approach based on continuous and firsthand observation of the product (sniffing about 250 samples every day), defines the direction of Ballantine’s.
Thanks to the influence of these five master blenders, Ballantine’s is now the number 1 scotch whisky in Europe and number 2 in the world. Currently, Ballantine’s has the most complete range of aged blended scotch whisky of quality in the world.
