Il Baffonero 2020 Maremma Toscana DOC Merlot by Rocca di Frassinello is a prestigious Supertuscan, from the vineyard oriented North/South-West, constantly ventilated by the Mistral, which cools and slows ripening. The temperature range enhances aromas and freshness, while clay-schist soils ensure drainage and compact bunches rich in tannins and concentration. Manual management with shoot selection and thinning creates balance. Grapes, hand-harvested and vinified in steel, mature 14 months in French oak barriques and 12 months in bottle. In the glass: intense black fruit, spices, cocoa, with velvety tannins and strong structure. Elegant, persistent, pairs with game, red meats, aged cheeses, a wine for meditation with high aging potential.

Rocca di Frassinello

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a wild and sunny land that has always enchanted travelers and enthusiasts, Rocca di Frassinello is born, one of the most fascinating realities of the Italian wine scene. Here two great traditions meet: the Tuscan one of Sangioveto and the French one brought by Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite, in partnership with Castellare di Castellina. The result is a unique project that blends style and experience in bottles capable of expressing both international elegance and Mediterranean soul.
The winery, designed by architect Renzo Piano, is a masterpiece of functional design and scenic beauty: pure lines, essential geometries, a harmony that dialogues with the surrounding hills. Below the surface, the spectacular underground barrel room opens like a true cathedral, a silent guardian of wines resting in the dark, waiting to tell their stories.
In the 90 hectares of vineyards, native and international varieties coexist: Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz. From this richness, now iconic labels are born. Rocca di Frassinello, the symbol wine, combines structure, finesse, and longevity. Le Sughere di Frassinello represents balance and daily pleasure, while Baffonero, pure Merlot, is considered one of the most intense and prestigious reds in the entire Maremma. Completing the range is Poggio alla Guardia, immediate and fresh, perfect as an introduction to the estate's style.
Each bottle is the result of careful work, where viticultural excellence meets the art of blending and meticulous attention to every detail. Choosing Rocca di Frassinello means bringing to the table the perfect synthesis between power and refinement, between roots and vision. A story that you can now also discover through Vino45, a reference point for those who want to experience wine as an authentic and memorable experience.

THE COMPANY

In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a wild and sunlit land that has always enchanted travelers, stands Rocca di Frassinello, one of the most fascinating names in Italian wine. Here two traditions meet: the Tuscan Sangioveto and the French expertise of Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite, in partnership with Castellare di Castellina. The result is a unique project, merging style and skill into bottles that combine international elegance with a Mediterranean soul.
The winery, designed by Renzo Piano, is both functional and spectacular, with pure lines and essential geometries. Below ground, the underground barrel cellar opens like a true cathedral, guarding wines in silence and darkness.
Across 90 hectares, native and international grapes coexist: Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Shiraz. From this richness come iconic labels: Rocca di Frassinello, structured and refined; Le Sughere di Frassinello, balanced for daily pleasure; Baffonero, a pure Merlot and one of the most prestigious reds of the Maremma; and Poggio alla Guardia, fresh and approachable.
Each bottle reflects careful work, blending art and meticulous detail. Choosing Rocca di Frassinello means bringing to the table the synthesis of power and finesse, roots and vision.
