The Gavi dei Gavi DOCG “Etichetta Nera” from La Scolca is the flagship of the estate, an undisputed symbol of Gavi and the highest expression of the Cortese grape. The grapes come from historical vineyards over 60 years old, with low yields but extraordinary concentration: the roots, driven deep, impart elegance, minerality, and complexity to the wine. The production process, refined over more than ninety harvests, involves gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature, and 6 months of aging on the lees, resulting in a white wine of great finesse, with notes of white flowers, grapefruit, almond, and flint. On the palate, it is structured yet harmonious, with vibrant freshness and a long savory and almond-like finish. Ideal with amberjack tartare, citrus risotto, white meat carpaccio, or Asian cuisine. A wine that embodies Gavi with rigor, balance, and depth.

Color: bright straw yellow with greenish reflections, the wine appears luminous and vivid in the glass, anticipating the freshness that it releases on the palate.
bouquet: intense fruity notes – grapefruit, cedar, green apple – enriched by white flowers and delicate floral hints. There are also slight mineral and flinty notes that provide a pleasant persistence.
Taste: elegant and dry, with vibrant and well-balanced acidity. The body is light but sufficiently sinuous, supported by a fresh, clean texture, and a long finish where almond, hazelnut, and a mineral-salty aftertaste emerge.

THE ESTATE

The estate La Scolca was purchased between 1917 and 1919 by the great-grandfather of the current owner, Giorgio Soldati, who now runs the business with his daughter Chiara Soldati.
The name of the plot derives from the ancient toponym Sfurca, meaning "To look far away," and the farmhouse that stood there was once a lookout post; the surname fully reflects the proud and tenacious character of the owners and their wines.
At the time of purchase, the property was partially covered by woods and partially cultivated with wheat. It was a well-thought-out intuition to plant Cortese vineyards in 1900 in an area exclusively suited for red grape cultivation: the name of the Company has proven prophetic. Production quickly became a primary technical and entrepreneurial activity.
