The 'Verdeluce' from Famiglia Cotarella is born in the Montecchio area, in the hills around Orvieto, particularly suited for high-quality whites. Pinot Bianco, Semillon, and Grechetto are three grape varieties that simultaneously represent a connection to tradition and the winery's desire to experiment. The grapes are hand-harvested according to their different ripening periods. First, the Pinot Bianco is cryomacerated, followed by the Semillon which is vinified in reduction, and finally the Grechetto which is vinified in white. The musts ferment separately in steel, then they are blended and aged in steel for at least 6 months. The result is a very clear wine, with sensations of citrus, grapefruit, cedar, sweet and warm notes of yellow flowers and aromatic herbs. Fresh, enveloping, with great elegance and cleanliness. A tangy and very flavorful finish.

Cotarella

In the picturesque crossroads between Lazio and Umbria, where tradition meets innovation, the Cotarella winery comes to life. Born from the creative flair of a family of world-renowned oenologists, with Riccardo Cotarella at the helm, this wine reality has become a point of reference for those seeking elegant and modern wines, capable of captivating the most demanding palates internationally.
Immersed in the lush hilly landscapes of these two Italian regions, Cotarella has been able to capture the essence of the territory, producing wines that celebrate the IGP Umbria and Lazio denominations. The varieties of grapes cultivated, from Grechetto to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, reflect a wise combination of local tradition and openness to the most appreciated international varieties. These grapes, nurtured with passion and respect for the environment, give rise to wines that stand out for their distinctive character and uncompromising quality.
Among the flagship labels of the winery, Montiano and Sodale stand out as authentic expressions of the Cotarella style. Montiano, with its complexity and aromatic depth, reveals itself as a wine of great charm and structure, while Sodale enchants with its elegance and softness, representing a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.
We invite all enthusiasts to discover the Cotarella labels on Vino45, a sensory journey through the hills of Lazio and Umbria, where every sip tells a story of passion, innovation, and respect for the land.

THE WINE
The 'Verdeluce' by Famiglia Cotarella originates in the Montecchio area, in the hills around Orvieto, particularly suited for high-quality whites. Pinot Bianco, Semillon, and Grechetto are three grape varieties that represent both a link to tradition and the winery's desire to experiment. The grapes are hand-picked according to their different ripening periods. First, the Pinot Bianco, which is cryomacerated, followed by the Semillon, which is vinified in reduction, and finally the Grechetto, which is vinified in white. The musts ferment separately in steel, then they are blended and aged in steel for at least 6 months. The result is a very clean wine, with sensations of citrus, grapefruit, cedar, sweet and warm notes of yellow flowers and aromatic herbs. Fresh, enveloping, of great elegance and cleanliness. A crisp and very flavorful finish.
THE COMPANY
The bond between the Cotarella Family and the world of wine dates back to the 1960s when Antonio and Domenico Cotarella, winemakers in Monterubiaglio, a hamlet of the municipality of Castel Viscardo in the province of Terni, established their first winery for the production of their own wine. The brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella, both oenologists raised in a land of long wine traditions, driven by their father Domenico's passion, founded the current “Falesco” in 1979, transforming what was a small family business into a successful winemaking enterprise to be passed on to future generations.
It is here, on the border between Umbria and Lazio, that undeniably charming wines are born, characterized by a contemporary style and at the same time distinguished by a particular longevity. Wines that in just a few decades have become ambassadors of Italian wine culture worldwide.
The company currently spans a vineyard area covering about 280 hectares, plus an additional ninety hectares currently rented. In a hilly area characterized by volcanic soils, both indigenous and international grape varieties are cultivated, so among the rows, one can find aleatico, trebbiano, malvasia, verdicchio, sangiovese, and vermentino, as well as merlot, syrah, viognier, and cabernet. Grapes cultivated with full respect for the environment and ecosystem, which in the winery are processed using the most modern and advanced oenological tools, always employed without ever altering what the terroir and the season have allowed to express in the fruit.
