THE COMPANY
A winery that for decades has represented the best that South Tyrol can express in terms of finesse and longevity. Founded in 1893 in the homonymous location not far from Merano, the Terlano winery is one of the most advanced producer cooperatives not only in all of South Tyrol but also throughout the Italian Peninsula, to the point of being considered a symbol of the perfect mechanism of cooperation in the wine sector. Its 143 members cultivate a total of 165 hectares of vineyards, equivalent to an annual production that far exceeds one million bottles. Incredible numbers, which go hand in hand with the best wines of the region, both white and red, capable of consistently satisfying both the public and critics like few others. Thus, Antonio Galloni of Wine Advocate in 2011 stated: “The best Alto Adige wines I tasted this year come from the Terlano Winery. In a nutshell, they are benchmark wines. Wines that should not be missing from any important cellar.” A path, that of absolute quality, that the members of the Terlano Winery have confidently embarked on over the decades, earning them fame and recognition in the Italian and international wine market. And so here are pinot bianco, chardonnay, pinot grigio, müller thurgau, gewürztraminer, and sauvignon blanc, as well as lagrein, schiava, pinot noir, and torilan: grape varieties that are exalted in their essence when crafted into traditional labels, and that become - by now - renowned names when interpreted in the “selection labels”: Terlaner, Winkl, Kreuth, Vorberg, Gries, Siebeneich, Siemegg, Monticol, Quarz, Nova Domus, Lunare, Porphyr. In short, names that over the years have rightly gained international prestige and notoriety, turning the Terlano winery into a true institution not only of Alto Adige wine but of the entire Italian wine landscape.
