Morellino di Scansano DOCG 'Santa Maria' 2023 (750 ml.) Frescobaldi

Santa Maria Morellino di Scansano by Frescobaldi is an authentic Tuscan red, produced in the historic Santa Maria estate, in the heart of Maremma, where the Sangiovese vines thrive in well-drained soils, caressed by marine breezes and a temperate climate that promotes balanced ripening. This Morellino di Scansano DOCG is born from a careful manual selection of the grapes, followed by traditional vinification in stainless steel and a short aging in bottle, to enhance freshness, fragrance, and varietal typicity. The color is brilliant ruby red, on the nose it stands out for its fruity notes of cherry and plum, enriched by floral hints of violet and spicy nuances. On the palate it is soft, harmonious, and lively, with silky tannins and an elegant finish. Ideal with Tuscan cold cuts, flavorful first courses, and grilled meats.

Nestled in the wonderful Tuscan lands, where time seems to have stopped to celebrate the beauty of nature and winemaking art, the winery Frescobaldi tells a story that spans generations. It is one of the oldest wine families in Italy, with roots that dig deep into a past rich in tradition and innovation. With a presence that embraces the most prestigious denominations of Tuscany, such as DOCG Chianti, Brunello, and Bolgheri, Frescobaldi stands out for a modern approach that never forgets to respect the history and the terroir that surrounds it.

The estates of Frescobaldi are a mosaic of winemaking excellence, where each vineyard is nurtured with dedication and love for the land. Here, under the warm Tuscan sun, Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are born, each an expression of a unique territory and unparalleled savoir-faire. The production philosophy of Frescobaldi is a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, where ancient wisdom blends with the most modern winemaking techniques to create wines with distinctive and unmistakable character.

Among the labels that make up the prestigious portfolio of Frescobaldi, the Nipozzano and CastelGiocondo stand out, two wines that embody the essence of Tuscany. The Nipozzano, with its enveloping structure and intense aromas, is the perfect companion for those wishing to explore the depth of Tuscan wines. The CastelGiocondo, on the other hand, is a Brunello di Montalcino with a refined and complex character, capable of narrating, sip by sip, the magic of a legendary territory.

Color: Bright ruby red, with violet reflections that reveal its youth and freshness. The chromatic intensity is lively, clear, and consistent with a young Morellino from Maremma.

Bouquet: The aromatic profile is intense and fragrant, dominated by notes of ripe cherry, plum, and small red fruits. There are floral hints of violet and light spicy nuances of black pepper and cinnamon, with a slightly balsamic background and a light iron note typical of the Sangiovese grown near the sea.

Taste: Balanced, with a medium structure and well-integrated fine tannins. The attack is soft and fresh, with good acidity that supports the sip and prolongs its pleasantness. The finish is juicy, persistent, with fruity echoes and a slightly savory closure, typical of Maremma soils.

Overall Rating: 87/100
