THE WINE
The Brunello di Montalcino 'Pianrosso' by Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona comes from an 11-hectare vineyard extraordinarily suited for the cultivation of sangiovese. It is a complex red that we love for its structure matched with extreme elegance. This extraordinary Brunello ages in Slavonian oak barrels of 20 to 30 hl for about 4 years, spending another year in the bottle. Elegance and class, wonderful.
THE ESTATE
The Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona estate, located in Montalcino, boasts a long history that dates back to the 17th century.
The company, now owned by Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, has over fifty hectares of vineyard, located near the Orcia river, excellently exposed to the southwest, at an altitude ranging from 240 to 360 meters above sea level. The great attention given to grape production is the result of an ancient peasant tradition, combined with increasingly updated and cutting-edge agronomic methods and techniques. Among the rows, the dominant grape is obviously the sangiovese grosso, a specific biotype of sangiovese exclusive to Montalcino, which in the case of the vineyards of the Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona estate grows in soils highly suited for viticulture, and is cultivated with full respect for the environment and ecosystem, resulting in simply exceptional grapes. Bunches that in the cellar transform into equally excellent labels. To adapt to the continuous evolutions in the wine sector, the Tenuta Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona currently has three distinct cellars: one dedicated to aging the finest wines, a second which serves as the official headquarters of the business - where winemaking takes place and where the administrative offices and the shop for the sale and tasting of wines are located - and finally a recently acquired one, where the new denomination of origin “Montecucco Sangiovese” is produced.
The result of all this is wines that are easily recognizable among a thousand, characterized by an elegant and refined style. From Rosso di Montalcino to Brunello, passing through “Fabivs” and “Ateo” and reaching the distillates, the labels that come from the Tenuta Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona are modern and current but, at the same time, capable of preserving intact the deepest charm of the authenticity of an area that, for decades, has upheld the prestige of the entire wine industry and all of Italian viticulture.
