Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 'Mazzano' by Masi is a red wine austere and majestic, the prototype of Amarone. The grapes Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara come from the eponymous terraced vineyard, with poor calcareous soils and a southeast exposure. After manual harvesting, they are dried for 120 days in fruit drying rooms. This is followed by a slow fermentation at low temperature and aging for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels with a longer resting period in the bottle. On the nose ripe cherry, sweet spices, and cocoa; on the palate, it is rich, structured, and persistent, with velvety tannins. Produced only in excellent vintages and kept in the private cellar Boscaini. Ideal with game, braised dishes, aged cheeses, or for meditation.

THE COMPANY

Veneto is one of the most suitable regions for viticulture in all of Italy. A varied and multifaceted territory, always in fermentation, with emerging production realities alongside historic and prestigious names. Among the latter, one cannot fail to mention the winery Masi, a family business for seven generations that has belonged to the Boscaini family since the end of the 18th century, but which today represents one of the most important and authoritative Italian wine brands in the world.
With extensive vineyards both in Italy and Argentina, where the Tupungato line gives voice to the terroir of Mendoza, the heart of the company remains firmly anchored in Valpolicella, the place where the entire winemaking project began. Currently managed by a well-coordinated technical team gathered in a Board of Directors chaired by Sandro Boscaini, the company, linked to the millennia-old Venetian civilization, roots itself in a historical heritage made up of exceptional terroirs and great native grapes.
Additionally, combining the oldest traditions with the most modern technology, the winery Masi is constantly active in research and experimentation, to the point that it has contributed to rewriting the history of drying for the production of Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, the symbolic wine of the territory, as well as being a pioneer in the recovery and use of ancient Veronese grape varieties that have almost disappeared, such as the oseleta. It is precisely from the native grapes of these territories, worked according to traditional winemaking techniques, that unique, majestic, and world-famous wines are born, such as Amarone itself, of which Masi probably produces the most qualified and extensive range currently available on the international market, with “Mazzano” and “Costasera” Riserva always at the top of both Italian and international industry guides.
