THE COMPANY

Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Italo-American brothers John and Harry Mariani. From the beginning, the two brothers envisioned a large-scale project, integrating quality viticulture with a modern winery with the goal of consistently maintaining a high quality level in the wines produced. Alongside the Mariani family was Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's greatest enologists, who immediately recognized that due to the richness of the soil and the privileged microclimatic position, the acquired territories had significant development potential. During those years, brothers John and Harry also acquired the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone, active since 1860 and specialized in the production of sparkling wines, to make it the Piedmontese brand of the group, now Banfi Piemonte.
