Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 'Costasera' 2018 (750 ml.) Masi

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva 'Costasera' by Masi is a proud, majestic, complex and exuberant red wine, a special selection of the renowned Costasera – Masi’s gentle giant. A true benchmark for Amarone, standing alongside Barolo and Brunello as part of the aristocracy of Italian red wines. Crafted using Masi’s authoritative expertise in Appassimento, the grapes—Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, and the original Oseleta (rediscovered by Masi)—are semi-dried on bamboo racks for about 120 days, concentrating their flavors. The wine is then aged for at least 3 years in noble oak barrels, achieving exceptional depth and refinement. It offers a rich, enveloping palate with notes of cherry liqueur, cocoa, and sweet spices. Perfectly paired with braised meats, game, aged cheeses, or truffle-based dishes, it also shines as a meditation wine.

Color: Intense garnet red with ruby reflections.

Bouquet: Broad, deep and layered. The first nose reveals cherries in alcohol, ripe blackberries and dried plums, followed by sweet spicy notes (cinnamon, vanilla, star anise), dark chocolate, roasted coffee and blond tobacco. Complex olfactory evolution with balsamic and noble wood hints.

Taste: In the mouth it is full, warm and enveloping, with soft and melted tannins, well-integrated residual sweetness and a surprising freshness that supports the balance. The alcohol is well integrated, giving volume and roundness. The finish is long and persistent, with returns of macerated fruit, spices and cocoa.
