The 'Cason' Rosso by Alois Lageder uses Tannat as its base, an exotic grape variety for South Tyrol. This variety originates from France. In South Tyrol, it reaches full ripeness and retains high acidity, which is an optimal prerequisite for producing excellent red wines. Spontaneous fermentation of the crushed grapes, with different percentages of whole clusters, occurs in wooden barrels. It matures in large and small wooden casks. This is followed by bottle aging. It is a red wine with an intense bouquet, fruity (plum, blackberry), with notes of leather, tea, and smokiness. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, soft, fruity, finely bitter, fresh, with crisp acidity.

A true synonym of excellence, Alois Lageder has over the years demonstrated what South Tyrol can best express in terms of personality, elegance, and territorial adherence. A result born from a clear vision of its work, where every activity is closely linked to others in a virtuous circle that has culminated in the biodynamic conversion of its owned vineyards.
Founded in 1823 and now in its sixth generation, the company stands out for its ability to blend tradition and innovation: “quality is always the result of many details, sometimes even minimal - recalls Alois Lageder - and in all processing phases, we first seek to find harmony among all the factors involved, working in tune with nature.” It is no coincidence that each wine manages, like few others in the region, to narrate the ever-different characteristics of its originating vineyard - South Tyrol is indeed an area extremely rich in soil variety, microclimatic zones, and exposures, which therefore offers ideal conditions to produce wines with a distinct individuality. The grapes harvested from the family-owned vineyards, about 50 hectares between Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno, and the area around Caldaro lake, are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods certified by Demeter. Moreover, in addition to managing its owned vineyards, the company collaborates with a number of trusted winemakers from various areas of South Tyrol, vineyards that together extend over another 110 hectares, of which about a quarter is cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics.
It is from this extraordinary context that wines are born, which are true ambassadors of the territory, white and red wines of great charm that make up a selection comprising three levels of quality: the Classics, the Terroir Selections, and the Masi.
