The Toscana Rosso IGT “Giusto di Notri” 2020 by Tua Rita is a tribute to the Church of San Giusto and the estate’s first vineyard in Notri. A certified organic Supertuscan crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, it reflects the Colline Metallifere terroir with exuberant fruit and refined mineral notes. Following vinification in stainless steel, it ages 18 months in French oak barriques and further in bottle, delivering a red that is more elegant than powerful, with solid structure, deep complexity, silky tannins, vibrant freshness, and long persistence. Perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, it’s a wine of character and longevity.

THE COMPANY

Tua Rita is a winery located in Val di Cornia and is internationally renowned for the excellent quality of its wines, particularly for some of its labels, such as the Merlot Redigaffi. Entrepreneur Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio Bisti purchased the land in 1984 with the intention of moving to a place where they could live in contact with nature, cultivating their land. Thanks to their unbridled passion for wine, the original 2 hectares of vineyard grew to the current 30. Simply named by reversing the owner's first and last name, the winery Tua Rita represents one of the first successful Italian realities developed on the "garage wine" model, where all production processes are conducted entirely autonomously and artisanally: small productions obtained with rigor, expertise, and seriousness.
The vine training system of Tua Rita alternates between simple spur cordon and double spur cordon. The protection of the vines follows organic farming methods with the aim of helping the plants defend themselves, ensuring the health of the environment and the land first and foremost. The use of phytosanitary products is indeed abolished. The soil on which the vines grow is predominantly composed of skeleton, clay, silt, and sand and is rich in mineral microelements. The territorial characteristics of the Metalliferous Hills give Tua Rita wines original ferrous notes and a nice saline character.
In the winery, where the premises have been recently renovated, interventions are limited and minimally invasive. The selected grapes undergo a soft pressing before being left to ferment in wooden vats. Once the vinification is complete, the wine is transferred by gravity into the barrels located beneath the winemaking premises. Here, aging is carried out for at least 18 months. This results in wines that combine quality and tradition, artisanal expressions without compromise from the generous Maremma territory.
