The Champagne Extra Brut 'Les Plates Pierres' by Maurice Grumier originates from the homonymous vineyard plot cultivated for many generations by the Grumier family. The vineyard lies on calcareous and clayey soil and was completely replanted in 1990-91. Cultivated biodynamically, it yields a powerful and intense champagne, spicy, which in recent years has become increasingly complex and precise. A blend of 60% chardonnay, 40% pinot noir, 9 years on the lees, this Blanc de Noirs fully expresses the experience of 4 generations of winemakers. A very complex champagne, with aromas of yellow fruits and a distinctly chalky minerality, powerful palate, very well structured, dense, and with excellently integrated acidity, balanced with energy and aromatic tension.

Maurice Grumier

In the picturesque Vallée de la Marne, where the land seems to breathe with the rhythm of the seasons, the winery Maurice Grumier stands. Here, among sun-kissed vineyards caressed by gentle breezes, the savoir-faire of an independent vigneron comes to life through the art of biodynamics. Maurice Grumier is not just a name, but a symbol of dedication to the terroir and the tradition of RM Champagne, a designation that represents the authenticity and passion of those who cultivate and vinify with heart.
The vineyards of Grumier are a mosaic of prized grapes: the vigorous Pinot Meunier, the noble Pinot Noir, and the elegant Chardonnay. These varieties, nurtured with respect and love, give rise to cuvées that embody the elegance and personality of the region. Each bottle tells a story of balance and refinement, an invitation to explore the aromatic depths that only such a rich terroir can offer.
The flagship of the production is the Champagne Brut Rosé, a symphony of flavors that dances on the palate with the lightness of a dream. Floral and fruity notes intertwine in an enveloping embrace, revealing the soul of a generous land and a timeless tradition.

THE WINE
The Champagne Extra Brut 'Les Plates Pierres' by Maurice Grumier comes from the eponymous vineyard plot cultivated for many generations by the Grumier family. The vineyard lies on chalky and clayey soil and was completely replanted in 1990-91. Cultivated biodynamically, it reveals a powerful and intense champagne, spicy, which in recent years has become increasingly complex and precise. A cuvée of 60% chardonnay, 40% pinot noir, 9 years on the lees, this Blanc de Noirs fully expresses the experience of 4 generations of winemakers. A very complex champagne, with aromas of yellow fruits and a distinctly chalky minerality, it has a powerful palate, very well structured, dense, and with excellently integrated acidity, balanced with energy and aromatic tension.
THE MAISON

The Grumier family has been cultivating their vineyards since 1743 and has been making wine from their own grapes since 1928, although the brand was "founded" only in 1945. The Maison is located in Venteuil, on the right bank of the Marne, a few kilometers from Epernay. The 8.5 hectares of property, scattered across different Villages in the area (Venteuil, Reuil, and Festigny, among others), allow Fabien, the current manager of the estate, to work with different varieties (even though Pinot Meunier, 55%, is the dominant grape) and original terroirs. Attention to agricultural practices (certification: haute valeur environnementale) and winemaking that aims to support the expressiveness of the vineyards is reflected in the glass, offering drinkers straightforward, fresh, and drinkable wines. The production is around 70,000 bottles.
