Bolgheri Bianco 'Ornellaia' 2022 (750 ml) is a white wine of great elegance crafted by Ornellaia, an emblem of oenological excellence from the Tuscan coast. It is born from a careful selection of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier grapes, grown in the estate’s vineyards along the gentle hills of Bolgheri, on sandy, mineral-rich soils, which provide freshness and complexity. The manual harvest allows for picking at the perfect ripeness. Fermentation takes place partly in barrique and partly in steel, followed by aging for 6 months on the lees, to enrich the structure and aromatic depth. On the nose, it reveals citrus notes, floral aromas, and tropical nuances, while on the palate it is taut, fresh, and persistent, with a refined minerality. A classy white, ideal with fish dishes, shellfish, and fusion cuisine.

Ornellaia

In the enchanting setting of Tuscany, amidst the gentle hills of Bolgheri, stands the legendary winery Ornellaia, a name that echoes elegance and power. Founded in an exceptional terroir, Ornellaia represents one of Italy's most prestigious labels, where the unique microclimate and mineral-rich soils create the ideal conditions for cultivating noble grapes. Here, the varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot find their fullest expression, giving life to wines that embody the Bordeaux style with an artistic touch in every vintage.
The production philosophy of Ornellaia is a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, where meticulous attention to detail merges with a contemporary approach to winemaking. The vineyards are tended with dedication, respecting the ecosystem and enhancing biodiversity, to ensure that each bottle tells the story of the land with authenticity and passion. The winery is distinguished by its ability to combine power and finesse, creating wines that captivate with their aromatic complexity and depth of flavors.
Among the main labels, Ornellaia and Le Serre Nuove stand as symbols of excellence. Ornellaia, in particular, is a masterpiece of structure and harmony, a wine that seduces with its intense aromas of black fruits, spices, and balsamic notes, supported by velvety tannins and a persistence that seems endless. Le Serre Nuove, on the other hand, represents a more accessible yet no less captivating version, characterized by freshness and dynamism, perfect for those seeking elegance without compromise.
We invite wine enthusiasts to discover the magnificent creations of Ornellaia on Vino45. A sensory journey to the heart of Bolgheri, where the art of winemaking transforms into pure emotion.

THE WINE
Bolgheri Bianco 'Ornellaia' 2022 (750 ml) is a white wine of great elegance signed by Ornellaia, an emblem of the winemaking excellence of the Tuscan coast. It is born from a careful selection of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier grapes, grown in the estate vineyards along the gentle hills of Bolgheri, on sandy soils rich in minerals, which confer freshness and complexity. The manual harvest allows for picking at the perfect ripeness. Fermentation occurs partly in barriques and partly in steel, followed by an aging of 6 months on the lees, to enrich the structure and aromatic depth. On the nose, it reveals citrus notes, floral hints, and tropical nuances, while on the palate it is taut, fresh, and persistent, with a refined minerality. A classy white, perfect with fish dishes, shellfish, and fusion cuisine.
THE COMPANY
It was in 1981 that Marquis Lodovico Antinori, cousin of Piero Antinori, founded the Tenuta Ornellaia, in the heart of the Bolgheri area, a few kilometers from the Mediterranean coast. With the first harvest of 1985, what would become an icon among SuperTuscans was born: the “Ornellaia”, which was marketed three years later, in 1988. With the inauguration of the company, the world-renowned winemaker, Michel Rolland, began to take care of the technical aspects of the winery. Subsequently, in the 1990s, the other two labels were born: "Le Volte" and "Le Serre Nuove". In the early 2000s, Robert Mondavi, the great Californian producer, acquired the Tenuta, later selling 50% to the Marchesi de' Frescobaldi, who would acquire the other 50% just three years later. The end of the 2000s also saw the birth of the label "Poggio alle Gazze", which would be followed by the highly selective late harvest wine "Ornus", made from pure petit manseng grapes. A mythical winery, therefore, credited with writing the history of Bolgheri. With almost one hundred hectares of vineyards, to which another thirteen are added on lease, at the Tenuta Ornellaia, the focus has always been on one single goal: quality. All decisions, all choices, take into account every smallest detail, and from the vineyard to the final bottling, shortcuts are not allowed. During the harvest, only the most precious and balanced bunches are selected and picked, subsequently worked separately in the winery, based on the cru of origin. Then a year of rest in barrel, followed by the composition of the blend: everything is aimed at enhancing every single nuance of the terroir, and valuing the expression of each vintage, always in respect of the continuity of what can be considered the “Ornellaia style”, synonymous with experience, competence, and determination, which translates in the glass into complexity and elegance that are hard to match.
