The Gruner Veltliner 'Rigger' from Griesserhof is made from pure native grapes, cultivated at approximately 800 meters above sea level on alluvial and stony soils, in South Tyrol in the vineyard of the same name. Only the best bunches are used and then vinified according to the most modern standards of winemaking. After fermentation, it is aged on fine lees for 10 months in tonneau and then for 3 months in the bottle to enhance its freshness and liveliness. The result is a wine that captivates with its intense, fresh, and tangy bouquet, with aromas of white peach and tropical fruits. It is smooth and persistent on the palate. The Veltliner has a scent of pepper, with hints of green apple and a delicately bitter aftertaste. An unforgettable tasting experience. Ideal for fish and seafood dishes, fresh vegetable dishes, and Asian cuisine, it is an excellent choice for fresh and goat cheeses

Griesserhof

In the heart of the Val d’Isarco, among the northernmost vineyards of South Tyrol, lies the estate Griesserhof, passionately and visionarily led by Paul Huber. Here, amid breathtaking landscapes and a unique microclimate, a winemaking production dedicated to excellence is born, where the declared goal is one: to create wines of character, authentic and territorial.
The origins of this extraordinary agricultural company date back… to the Ice Age. It was indeed the slow retreat of glaciers that left behind fertile morainic soils rich in minerals, on which today grow white varieties with an intense aromatic profile and vibrant freshness. Alongside them, expressions of Zweigelt and Pinot Noir also find space, capable of surprising with elegance and typicity.
The estate includes three main vineyards: Gols, Gall, and Rigger. The Gols vineyard, located in the valley floor and embraced by the historic farm, is a witness to a centuries-old tradition: the first evidence of cultivation dates back to the 14th century, as documented by the records of the Novacella Abbey. On these sandy and loamy soils, Huber proudly cultivates his best Sylvaner, a grape variety that here expresses minerality and precision in a unique way.
At an altitude of 800 meters is the Gall vineyard, home to Kerner, which benefits from cool temperature fluctuations and intense brightness. In the warm Val Riga, on the other hand, it is the Veltliner that dominates: a wine of great expressiveness, rich, aromatic, and full of energy.
Vino45 is proud to include the estate Griesserhof in its selection, an emblem of authentic and respectful alpine viticulture, capable of finely narrating the most elegant face of South Tyrol. Every bottle signed by Paul Huber is an invitation to discover wines that arise from the land and speak with the voice of the mountains.

THE WINE
The Gruner Veltliner 'Rigger' from Griesserhof is made from pure indigenous grapes, cultivated at about 800 meters above sea level on alluvial and stony soils, in South Tyrol in the eponymous vineyard. Only the best bunches are used and then vinified according to the most modern viticulture standards. After fermentation, it is aged on fine lees for 10 months in tonneau and then for 3 months in the bottle to enhance its freshness and liveliness. The result is a wine that captivates with its intense, fresh, and tangy bouquet, with aromas of white peach and tropical fruits. It is soft and persistent on the palate. The Veltliner has a peppery aroma, with hints of green apple and a delicately bitter aftertaste. An unforgettable tasting experience. Ideal for seafood and fish dishes, fresh vegetable dishes and Asian cuisine, a great choice for fresh and goat cheeses.
THE ESTATE

Producing characterful wines is the goal of Paul Huber of the Griesserhof estate in Varna. The company is one of the northernmost in South Tyrol and mainly focuses on white wines, but Zweigelt and Pinot Noir are also cultivated. The foundations of the estate were laid during the Ice Age. Huge glaciers left behind very fertile moraine soil, on which mainly white grape varieties grow today. The Grisserhof estate includes three vineyards: Gols, Gall, and Rigger. The first is located in the valley floor, and the vines surround the farmhouse. The vine has been growing here since the 14th century, as recorded in the inscriptions of the Novacella Abbey. No wonder: the loamy and sandy soil is ideal for cultivating different grape varieties. "The Gols vineyard is the best for our Sylvaner," says Huber. The Gall vineyard, located at 800 m a.s.l., is the preferred area for Kerner, while the warm valley floor of the Val Riga offers the best conditions for very expressive Veltliner wines.
