The Chardonnay 'Vigna San Francesco' Contea di Sclafani by Tasca Conti d'Almerita originates from the most famous white grape in the world, Sicilian. Lucio Tasca planted it over 30 years ago in Regaleali, at the lower part of the hill of San Francesco. This white owes its great complexity and elegance also to the alcoholic fermentation carried out in French oak barrels, from Allier and Tronçais, where it rests for 8 months. Intense, smooth, very rich and balanced, with a finish of beautiful freshness. On the palate, it reveals complexity and fruitiness, with hints of white flowers, exotic fruit, and citrus accompanied by notes of white pepper, butter, and vanilla.

THE COMPANY

Our story is written in the land to which, for eight generations, we have dedicated the attention and love that one gives to a family member. Our grandparents taught us to respect it with our eyes always turned to the future and this vision, even today, allows us to have lush vineyards and to cultivate rich and fertile lands. At the historic estate, Regaleali, over the years, through a precise project to enhance the native varieties and the territories with a greater winemaking vocation, Capofaro in Salina in the Aeolian archipelago, Tascante on Etna, Whitaker in Mozia in the province of Trapani, and Sallier de La Tour in the Doc Monreale have been added, each with its own story to write, each with a different Sicily to tell. Our biggest challenge now is to preserve these places to leave our children a better environment, with constant attention to the safeguarding of each single ecosystem.
THE PHILOSOPHY
We respect the land and its rhythms
We cultivate the vineyard in five different estates in Sicily – Regaleali, Capofaro, Tascante, Whitaker, and Sallier de La Tour – each with its own characteristics. Different soils and climates that span the entire island and give rise to a long harvest season that begins in mid-August and concludes between the end of October and the beginning of November. By our side, for generations, work men and women who help us keep pace with the seasons. We tell the story of Sicily and its products also through a cooking school where the raw materials dictate the calendar. Alongside the vineyards, in our fields, olive trees, wheat, and almond trees grow, as well as gardens, pastures, and orchards, each with its own time because in our world, nature is not in a hurry.
