THE WINE
The Wehlen Sonnenuhr Riesling GG by S.A. Prüm from Central Moselle comes from the oldest vineyard of the estate with 80-100 year old own-rooted vines that provide an enormous variety of aromas. Pure Riesling obtained from the selection of ripe and best bunches, hand-picked at the end of October. Aged for 24 months in used oak barrels. Wide and intense bouquet, with notes of yellow fruits like peach and apricot and pleasant citrus notes, fresh floral scents, and mineral and hydrocarbon hints. On the palate, it is fine and complex, with notes of yellow fruits and citrus, floral notes of white flowers followed by a pronounced freshness and sapidity, classic hydrocarbon notes, and excellent minerality. Elegant and balanced. Total production 3,000 bt/year.
THE COMPANY

Directly on the banks of the Moselle in a fairytale landscape characterized by dark slate hills overlooking the river, the S.A. Prum winery is an ambassador of a winemaking tradition that has lasted for generations.
The pursuit of the best possible quality is the mantra of this historic company, a founding member of the VDP association, Verband Deutsches Praedikats, an association that groups together the 200 most virtuous producers in Germany.
The 22 hectares owned by the winery are mostly own-rooted and divided among highly regarded vineyards; the management of the vineyard is obviously aimed at enhancing the vineyard and territory with predominantly manual labor and harvests carried out at the perfect stage of ripeness.
Vinification is also strictly minimalist and linked to tradition, with fermentations taking place in stainless steel using natural yeasts to enhance the richness and elegance of the raw material, resulting in incredibly deep and long-lived wines, internationally renowned. These wines are characterized by significant acidity and pronounced minerality derived from the schistous soil rich in slate. Since July 1, 2017, Saskia Prum has been the first female guide of such a prestigious winery.
