THE COMPANY
A winery that for decades has represented the best that South Tyrol can offer in terms of finesse and longevity. Founded in 1893 in the eponymous location not far from Merano, the Terlano winery is one of the most advanced cooperatives of producers not only in all of South Tyrol but also in the entire Italian Peninsula, to the point of being considered a symbol of the perfect mechanism of cooperation in the wine sector. Its 143 members collectively cultivate 165 hectares of vineyards, resulting in an annual production that significantly exceeds one million bottles. These staggering numbers go hand in hand with the best wines of the region, both white and red, which consistently manage to satisfy both the public and critics alike. As Antonio Galloni of Wine Advocate stated in 2011: “The best wines from Alto Adige that I have tasted this year come from Cantina Terlano. In short, they are benchmark wines. Wines that should not be missing from any important cellar.” A path towards the highest quality that the members of the Terlano Winery have confidently embarked upon over the decades, earning them fame and recognition in the Italian and international wine market. Here we find pinot bianco, chardonnay, pinot grigio, müller thurgau, gewürztraminer, and sauvignon blanc, as well as lagrein, schiava, pinot noir, and torilan: grape varieties that are exalted in their essence when crafted into traditional labels, and become - by now - illustrious names when interpreted in “selection labels”: Terlaner, Winkl, Kreuth, Vorberg, Gries, Siebeneich, Siemegg, Monticol, Quarz, Nova Domus, Lunare, Porphyr. In short, names that over the years have rightly earned international prestige and recognition, transforming the Terlano winery into a true institution not only of Alto Adige wine but of the entire Italian wine scene.
