Grand Reserve White by Ixsir is a fresh and smooth white wine of Lebanese origin, a blend of Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay grapes from vineyards in various regions of Lebanon (Batroun, Kab Elias, Ainata, Jezzine, Deir El Ahmar & Niha) cultivated at altitudes ranging from 1,100 to 1,300 m s.l.m. The wine matures for 5 months in large French oak barrels (50% new, 50% used once). Carefully handcrafted, the wines reflect the purity and freshness of the Lebanese mountains, offering an intense bouquet with notes of white flowers, peach, and citrus. On the palate, it is balanced between smoothness and pleasant freshness with a slightly toasted note on the finish.

THE WINE

THE COMPANY

The name of the winery Ixsir comes directly from “Iksir,” the original Arabic word meaning “Elixir,” a term common to many languages used to define the purest form of various substances. Based on these foundations of essential quality and philosophical linearity, the winery was founded in 2009 by a close-knit group of friends who shared a passion for good wine and the conviviality it creates. The vision that drives this production reality is fueled by love for a terroir often overlooked or worse, forgotten, an area that showed great potential yet to be expressed: Lebanon. Here, the vineyards are cultivated with respect and according to the principles of sustainable agriculture.
The vineyards of the winery Ixsir are spread throughout the national territory, from the towns of Batroun to Jezzine, passing through the mountains of Lebanon where they rest on clay soils rich in limestone, benefiting from numerous unique microclimates due to their geographical positioning. Additionally, the lands owned by the winery reach up to 1,800 meters above sea level, a characteristic that gives Ixsir the title of having the highest vineyards in the entire northern hemisphere.
Ixsir carries out its winemaking processes in a traditional Lebanese house dating back to the 17th century, which, nestled on a steep hillside within the municipality of Batroun, conceals a modern winery suitable for vinification and aging that makes environmental sustainability its core business. The offered line is of international inspiration and profile, drawing from the winemaking tradition typical of the Bordeaux area: the reds age in barriques and are the result of international grape varieties, just like the whites, where in some of them – such as in the Altithude – one can also find a Lebanese indigenous variety called Obeideh, identified as the ancestor of Chardonnay, which manages to impart natural spicy aromas to the products where it is used, transporting you back to the East with a single swirl of the glass.
