The Lugana Riserva 'Molceo' by Ottella is made from pure Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, in the territory south of Lake Garda, between Brescia and Verona. This particular terroir is capable of producing wines with intense aromatic concentration and excellent aging potential, with elegant and mineral evolutions. The grapes are harvested slightly late and aged for 16 months on the lees, mostly in steel and a small part in tonneau and barrique. The long aging gives it a rich body and remarkable complexity. The bouquet is broad and articulated, with aromas of ripe fruit and candied citrus peel. The taste is seductive, soft, and fleshy, with good freshness and a clear mineral vein. It pairs well with important seafood dishes, white meats, or a platter of aged cheeses.

THE WINE
The Lugana Riserva 'Molceo' by Ottella is made from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, in the area south of Lake Garda, between Brescia and Verona. This particular terroir is capable of producing wines with intense aromatic concentration and excellent aging potential, with elegant and mineral evolutions. Harvested slightly late and matured for 16 months on the lees, mostly in steel and partly in tonneau and barrique. The long aging gives it a rich body and notable complexity. Broad and articulated bouquet, with aromas of ripe fruit and candied citrus peel. Seductive, soft, juicy sip, with good freshness and a clear mineral vein. To be enjoyed with important seafood menus, white meats, or a platter of aged cheeses.
THE COMPANY

The winery Ottella has its roots in a land blessed with a particular winemaking gift, both for reds and whites. With one foot in Valpolicella and the other in the land of Garda, Ottella creates a series of labels that aim to faithfully express the territory. Lodovico, Francesco, and Michele Montresor have strongly believed in this land and decided to adopt it as the optimal substrate to nurture their dream: to produce unique, “noble” wines that could be recognized through a precise signature. They are as creative as they are firmly attached to the expressiveness of the terroir, which is enhanced in its soil-vine relationship.
The absolute protagonist of the field and the winery is the Trebbiano di Lugana, an indigenous grape variety that enriches the vineyard-covered areas near Lake Garda. Locally, this variety is known as “Turbiana” and has been the subject of numerous genetic studies by agricultural university entities. Initially considered related to Verdicchio, it is now traced back to a connection with other Trebbiani. It is a variety endowed with strong vigor, and therefore, the training method mainly leans towards low-expansion types, favoring a double arch system. The Lugana area has a glacial origin: the melting of the ice has caused the accumulation of debris that created the morainic hills arranged in an amphitheater to protect the Lugana basin. It consists of layers of clay and limestone, distributed unevenly in the soil. This allows for different nuances within the same area, which are reflected in the wine through particular distinctive traits.
The winery Ottella cultivates both white and red grapes, producing a high number of labels. Among the reds, the Venetian expressions of Amarone and Valpolicella stand out, while among the whites, Trebbiano di Lugana reigns. The mineral sapidity, aromatic finesse, and crisp freshness define the imprint of Ottella wines, which tell the story of the soul and essence of a grape variety and a territory.
