Tenuta di Castellaro

In the heart of the enchanting Aeolian Islands, where the wind caresses the sea and the sun kisses the land, stands the evocative Tenuta di Castellaro. Here, amidst breathtaking landscapes and volcanic soils, unfolds the life of a winery that has chosen to embrace the nature and history of the Sicilian territory in all its expressions. The Aeolian Islands, with their unique characteristics, provide a perfect cradle for viticulture, and Tenuta di Castellaro fully exploits this potential, becoming a spokesperson for a winemaking that enhances the minerality and personality of the native grape varieties.
The production philosophy of Tenuta di Castellaro is a tribute to the land that hosts it: respectful and attentive, it aims to enhance natural resources and sustainability. The cultivated grapes, such as Malvasia, Carricante, and Nero Ossidiano, find here a perfect habitat, giving life to wines that tell stories of lava and sea, of ancient traditions and modern innovations.

THE WINE
The White 'Pomice' is the flagship white wine of Tenuta di Castellaro. An organic wine that expresses great aroma and elegance through a subtle yet perceptible and tasty saline texture that makes it unique. An aroma that exudes great balance. It is born from a combination of two very different varieties that pair perfectly and complement each other, enhanced by the volcanic soil of Lipari. The intoxicating aromas of Malvasia delle Lipari blend masterfully with the fresh mineral caress of Carricante to create a taste where the concept of balance becomes an archetype of complex Sicilian elegance. The grapes are selected and hand-picked, the yeasts used are indigenous, and clarification occurs naturally, transferring the wine several times before bottling. A dry white wine, of great finesse and freshness, both on the nose and on the palate: citrus and wildflowers, with fruity and almond notes, enveloping and with a long-lasting and persistent flavor. It carries the sun and a marked saline minerality in its deep roots.
THE COMPANY

Tenuta di Castellaro comes to life from a morning walk in the Piana di Castellaro in the summer of 2005, from which an ambitious project was born, still evolving today. Massimo Lentsch and Stefania Frattolillo, entrepreneurs from Bergamo, were guided by their love for the wonderful Island of Lipari to create a true work of art. The winery Tenuta di Castellaro is a pure expression of the volcanic territory of the Aeolian Islands, magical and unspoiled places that welcomed a dream and transformed it into a unique reality. The 2000 m² winery built on the Island of Lipari is, in fact, a monument dedicated to the landscape, art, architecture, and technology, in full respect of nature, humanity, and traditions.
