The Maremma Toscana DOC Syrah 2020 from Poggio L’Apparita, vinified in purity, originates from a distinctive terroir of mineral-rich clay soils, sun-drenched hillsides and steady maritime breezes that enhance ripeness and aromatic intensity. Fermentation in stainless steel and ageing in oak barriques shape a deep, vibrant red wine with a subtly smokyprofile and notes of juicy red fruit, including raspberry and crisp cherry. The palate is generous and well-defined, supported by a mature tannic structure that leads to a long, refined finish of Moreish blackberry. Perfect with grilled meats, flavourful regional dishes and aged cheeses, it complements rich and aromatic cuisine with elegance and depth.

The "L'Apparita" Agricultural Company, established in 1978, spans over an area of 20 hectares in the countryside of Maremma Toscana, about 20 km north of Grosseto towards Siena. The property, due to its historical and scenic importance, is entirely under the protection of the Environmental Heritage of the Provinces of Siena and Grosseto. The origins of the farmhouse are uncertain: it is not clear if it was once a customs free zone between the Republic of Siena and the Papal State, or, given its architecture, if it was a military settlement, known on ancient land registry maps as Podere San Michele - hence the choice to name our products "San Michele di Poggio L'Apparita".
Address:
Località L'Apparita, 58045 Paganico (GR), Italy
Color: Deep ruby with violet highlights at the rim, showing notable density in the glass.
Nose: Broad and ripe, featuring blackberries and blackcurrants enriched by sweet spices, black pepper, subtle toasted notes and a faint balsamic nuance.
Taste: Full-bodied and smooth, with polished tannins, balanced freshness and alcohol, and a long finish echoing dark fruit and spice.

THE FARM
The farm Poggio l'Apparita, established in 1978 in Tuscany, spreads over an area of 20 hectares in Maremma, and is located 20 km north of Grosseto, in the direction of Siena. The entire property remains under the protection of environmental heritage of the provinces of Siena and Grosseto because of significant scenic interest. The origins of the farmhouse are not certain: it is not clear whether in the past it was a Customhouse on the borders between the Republic of Siena and the Papal States or, in view of its architecture, if it was a military settlement. However, on the old maps it was know as Podere San Michele, hence our choice to name our products San Michele di Poggio L'Apparita.
