The Barolo 'Percristina' by Domenico Clerico comes from the vineyards in the Mosconi Cru, in Monforte d'Alba. They were planted in the clay soil in 1955, although they were acquired by Clerico only in 1995. It is a wine that ages in barrique for three years, during which it is constantly monitored and tasted to select the best barrels to transfer the wine into large casks for another two years in wood. The aging process continues for at least 5 years in the bottle before release. A meticulous care for a unique, rare, and precious wine, with balances in perpetual evolution in what will potentially be its long life. An emotion, always.

Domenico Clerico

In the heart of the Langhe, an enchanting region where the hills seem to dance under the Piedmontese sky, stands the Domenico Clerico winery, one of the brightest gems in the Italian wine landscape. Its history is deeply intertwined with the modern evolution of Barolo, a wine that has managed to redefine itself, imprinting its name in the firmament of great Italian reds.
Domenico Clerico was a visionary pioneer, capable of looking beyond the horizon, embracing a modernist approach that revolutionized the way of conceiving and producing Barolo. His creations are powerful, concentrated, and endowed with extraordinary longevity, characteristics that fully reflect his production philosophy. The plots of Nebbiolo, the noble grape variety par excellence of the Langhe, intertwine with those of Dolcetto, giving life to wines that tell stories of passion, land, and innovation.
Among the most celebrated labels of Clerico, the Barolo Ciabot Mentin stands out for its complexity and aromatic depth. This wine is a sensory journey that unfolds through notes of ripe fruit, spices, and hints of wet earth, evolving over time with grace and character. Each sip is a tribute to the mastery of a man who managed to interpret the Langhe terroir with boldness and respect, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Let yourself be captivated by the wines of Domenico Clerico, available on Vino45, and immerse yourself in an experience that celebrates the history and innovation of Barolo, a wine narrative that never ceases to fascinate.

THE WINE
The Barolo 'Percristina' by Domenico Clerico comes from the vineyards in the Mosconi Cru, in Monforte d'Alba. They were planted in the clayey soil in 1955, although they were acquired by Clerico only in 1995. It is a wine that ages in barrique for three years, during which it is constantly monitored and tasted to select the best barrels to transfer the wine into large wooden casks for another two years. The aging process continues for at least 5 years in the bottle before release. A meticulous care for a unique, rare, and precious wine, with balances in perpetual evolution in what will be its potentially long life. An emotion, always.
THE COMPANY
Around the mid-1970s, in 1976 to be precise, Domenico Clerico, at his father's request, chose to take the reins of the family farm, which at the time covered an area of about five hectares and produced grapes to be sold to the nearby social winery. However, seeing the meager earnings and convinced of the enormous potential of the lands of the Langhe, Domenico, assisted by his wife Giuliana in managing the estate, decided to start vinifying his own grapes to produce quality wines.
With love and dedication, he began to care for his vines, trying to interpret every little need at every moment of the year. Meanwhile, Domenico acquired new well-positioned vineyard plots, in the heart of Bussia, in the Ginestra cru and in the Mosconi cru, choosing lands characterized by optimal microclimatic conditions.
Today, Domenico Clerico's winery has 21 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the best subzones of Barolo in Monforte d’Alba and Serralunga d’Alba. At an altitude ranging from 150 to 450 meters above sea level, he manages his rows carefully and wisely, with the utmost respect for the environment, nature, biodiversity, and the ecosystem, collecting pure and precious grapes that translate into labels with a thousand facets, olfactively seductive and gustatively complex.
This is how hard work, sweat, and determination have given rise to what can currently be considered a vital and dynamic winemaking reality, undoubtedly among the most representative wineries of Monforte d’Alba. The company of Domenico Clerico best interprets especially the nebbiolo grape, producing wines that are overwhelming in olfactory notes, noble on the palate, and endless in persistence. From Barolo “Pajana” to Barolo “Aeroplanservaj”, from Barolo “Ciabot Mentin” to Barolo “Percristina”, not to mention the Barbera and the Dolcetto: simply extraordinary wines.
