The Pinot Nero 'White Label' from Tilia Estate is made from pure Pinot Noir grapes sourced from 16-year-old vines in the Potoče vineyard, Vipava Valley, Slovenia. Well-ripened grapes are hand-harvested with a selection of the clusters; before maceration, part of the must is removed to concentrate tannins and color, followed by 10 days of maceration in steel. It ages for 16 months in new French oak barriques from Louis Latour. It has an intense aroma of ripe red fruits such as cherry and blackberry, notes of dried plums and jammy fruits; with a balsamic note, hints of smoke, and earthiness. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant, full-bodied, and persistent with significant tannins. Annual production of only 900 bottles.

THE COMPANY

Tilia Estate was founded in Potočje in the Vipava Valley in 1996 by Melita and Matjaž Lemut. The brand of this winery is the lime tree. The silhouette of this tree represents the first vineyard planted and still adorns the label of all the wines today. On 10 hectares of vineyards, spread across exceptional locations along the Vipava Valley, varieties of Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Moscato Giallo are cultivated. The key factors in viticultural technology are balanced growth, low yields, and minimal use of pesticides. This winery defines itself as 'The home of Pinot.' Their aim is to produce exceptional wine, bring it closer, and offer it to people for whom wine is part of their personal culture. This has been a fundamental guiding principle in their operations. The wine must reflect the quality of the grapes, the creative idea, the precision of execution, and the communication with those for whom it is intended.
