THE COMPANY
When it comes to Pinot Noir in Italy, the reference to the winery Gottardi is essential. This reality was established in 1986 when a wine merchant from Innsbruck - namely Bruno Gottardi from Trentino - managed to realize a long-cherished dream by purchasing six hectares of vineyards in the now-famous area of Mazzon, considered the Italian paradise for Pinot Noir. After carefully restoring the rows and building a modern winemaking facility, the first vintage was bottled in 1995, which immediately set very high quality levels. Currently, with about nine hectares of vineyards, the company is owned and managed by Alexander Gottardi, who has transformed the high standards achieved in the past into a constant challenge for improvement and future developments. Among the rows, the vines grow in soils rich in sandstone and limestone, enjoy a particularly favorable microclimate, and are cultivated with full respect for the environment, nature, and ecosystem. After a brief period, during which Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer were produced from 2006 to 2009, the current focus is exclusively on the Pinot Noir variety, whose grapes are treated in the least invasive way possible. In the winery, the movements of the wine occur by gravity, fermentations are carried out in open oak vats, and aging is done for one year in barriques. This is how a great Pinot Noir comes to life, recognized for years as one of the best in Italy, pure and intact in fruit, elegant and refined, highly representative of the varietal and the territory, as well as long and deep in every subtle organoleptic nuance. The Pinot Noir from Gottardi is a flagship of the most excellent winemaking not only in Trentino Alto Adige but throughout the entire Peninsula.
