THE WINE
The Colli Rossi di Salerno 'Montevetrano' from Montevetrano is a now-famous wine that offers an uncommon taste-olfactory complexity. After fermentation, it matures for 14 months in new and second-use French oak barriques from Allier, Nevers, and Tronçais. It is an IGT 'SuperCampano', rich in substance and structure. Excellent.
THE COMPANY
In the 1980s, the desire to experiment led a group of wine-loving friends to found a winery, where Silvia Imparato, a former photographer, was joined by Riccardo Cotarella, now a renowned oenologist. It was precisely in 1983, the year the project for the Montevetrano winery was launched, which six years later would yield the first vintage of the namesake wine, the “Montevetrano”, now a famous Campanian blend, combining the international grape varieties of cabernet sauvignon and merlot with the native aglianico. Currently spread over an area of twenty-six hectares, of which five are cultivated as vineyards, the Montevetrano company is located in San Cipriano Piacentino, in the province of Salerno, and continues to produce its “Montevetrano”, a label that has been complemented by that of “Core”, the latter obtained by working with pure aglianico grapes, almost as a homage to the inseparable bond that the noble grape variety has with the Campanian territory. Among the rows, the agronomic practices are not invasive at all, while in the winery the use of wood is wise and tailored: thus, wines with a unique and intense olfactory profile are born, supported by an unparalleled gustatory harmony, achieved in the perfect fusion of fruit, tannic texture, and precious tertiary aromas.
