Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 'Opere di San Pietro' 2011 (750 ml.) - Tenuta Villa Girardi

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 'Opere di San Pietro' by Tenuta Villa Girardi owes its name to the terraces created thanks to the dry stone walls erected on a sunny slope and particularly suitable for viticulture. After drying, pressing and alcoholic fermentation for a period of about a month, the Amarone is left to age for at least 2 and a half years in 35 hl Slavonian oak barrels and a further 6 months in French oak tonneau. The result is a wine with a refined and harmonious taste profile. Complex, with dominant notes of raisins, plums and hints of vanilla. Evolved and persistent. To be served on special occasions, with the usual dishes of game, red meat and aged cheeses.

THE COMPANY

A family business founded in 1986 and directed by Franco Tommasi. It is located in the valley that connects San Pietro in Cariano with Fumane, in the historic production area of Valpolicella wine, north-west of Verona. Located in a large park with old trees, surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyard owned; the soil rich in limestone and the mild climate that characterizes the area are ideal conditions for the cultivation of the native vines Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara.
