Marsala DOC Superiore Riserva Semisecco 'SR1015' 2015 by Florio is made from Grillo grapes vinified according to tradition and aged for 8 years in 500-liter caratelli in the legendary barrel 1FL, stored in the historic Cantine Florio, just 109 meters from the sea. The brackish influence and slow aging give the wine depth, elegance, and a unique identity. On the palate, it offers a light tannin, with hints of raisins, vanilla, dates, root, and toasted almond. The intense aromas blend into a rich and harmonious tasting experience, which gently evolves towards a persistent and velvety finish. It is a meditation wine, ideal with blue cheeses like gorgonzola or with sour-sweet pairings of haute cuisine, perfect for moments of contemplation and sensory pleasure.

Florio

The history of the Florio winery has its roots back in 1833, when Vincenzo Florio, a man of vision and courage, decided to embark on an oenological journey that would indelibly mark the history of Sicilian wine. Situated in the splendid setting of Sicily, a land of contrasts and wild beauty, Florio is more than just a winery: it is a symbol of tradition and innovation that has conquered palates worldwide thanks to its Marsala.
Marsala, a fortified wine that bears the name of the city where it was born, is an authentic oenological gem that encapsulates the essence of Sicily. The gentle hills and mild climate of the island offer the ideal conditions for the cultivation of Grillo and Catarratto grapes, native varieties that give Marsala its unique and unmistakable character. The Florio winery stands out for a production that follows traditional methods, respecting the rhythms of nature and enhancing every nuance of the Sicilian terroir.
Every bottle of Florio Marsala is a symphony of aromas and flavors: from the warm and enveloping tones of dried fruit and vanilla to the spicy and balsamic notes that enhance its complexity. It is a wine that can adapt to multiple occasions, from solitary meditation to the conviviality of a meal with company, and it manages to amaze with its versatility.
Let yourself be captivated by the timeless charm of Florio wines and discover on Vino45 the authentic expression of Marsala: a journey between past and present, between land and sea, in a sip of pure Sicily.
Address:
Via Vincenzo Florio, 1 - 91025 Marsala (TP), Italy
Color: intense and bright amber, crossed by golden and copper reflections. The texture is dense, with tight and slow arches, a sign of concentration and long maturation.
Bouquet: deep and layered. Initially, elegant oxidative notes emerge, typical of aging in wood, followed by hints of candied orange peel, dates, dried figs, and dark honey. In the background, there are spicy hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ancient wood, with nuances of caramel and licorice.
Taste: enveloping and warm, with a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness. The semi-dry component is well-managed, allowing space for a wide and persistent structure, supported by a savory and slightly tannic vein. The finish is long, with consistent references to dried fruit, sweet spices, and a subtle salty nuance that recalls the proximity of the sea.

THE WINE
Marsala DOC Superiore Riserva Semisecco 'SR1015' 2015 by Florio is born from Grillo grapes fermented according to tradition and aged for 8 years in 500-liter casks in the legendary barrel 1FL, housed in the historic Florio Cellars, just 109 meters from the sea. The salty influence and slow aging give the wine depth, elegance, and a unique identity. On the palate, it offers a light tannin, with hints of raisin, vanilla, date, root, and toasted almond. The intense aromas blend into a rich and harmonious tasting experience, evolving gently towards a persistent and velvety finish. It is a meditative wine, ideal with blue cheeses such as gorgonzola or with sweet-and-sour pairings of high cuisine, perfect for moments of contemplation and sensory pleasure.
THE COMPANY
Founded in 1833 by Vincenzo Florio, the Florio Cellars in Marsala overlook the western Sicilian sea. Surrounded by the energy of the winds, flavored by the sea, the Cellars welcome, beautiful and silent, the oak woods where the Marsala Florio age in an apparently motionless movement. Hundreds of barrels, vats, and casks, each with its own history, breathe the sea through the tuff floor, in the high naves where aromas and architectures blend. In this wonderful place, where the Sicilian idea of beauty is distilled, winemaker Tommaso Maggio, through the skillful use of space, time, and oxygen, creates Marsala in its many organoleptic forms.
