The “Cumières” Brut Nature Champagne by Georges Laval is born from a classic blend of the three Champagne grape varieties – with a prevalence of Chardonnay, accompanied by Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – sourced from old organically cultivated vines in the prestigious area of Cumariot, classified as Premier Cru. The winemaking follows an artisanal style: alcoholic fermentation in foudres, aging in oak barrels, and resting on the lees for 24-36 months, with additional bottle aging for 3-6 months. As a Brut Nature, it does not have added liqueur de dosage, expressing the terroir's character with purity. In the glass, it reveals a profile of great tension and precision, with vibrant freshness, generous substance, and a savory texture that make it vigorous, deep, and refined. An essential and authentic Champagne, perfect for lovers of minerality and balance.

Georges Laval

In a magical corner of the Champagne region in France, the winery Georges Laval stands out as a beacon of authenticity and respect for nature. Founded by a family of passionate vignerons, this winery symbolizes a deep commitment to producing Champagne that reflects the purity of the terroir and the essence of the grapes from which they originate. Here, in the heart of the AOC Champagne designation, each bottle tells a story of dedication and savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
Georges Laval is a small vigneron who has chosen to follow the path of biodynamics, an approach that rejects the use of chemicals in the vineyard, instead prioritizing sustainable practices that respect the natural rhythms of the earth. This method not only protects the environment but also enhances the unique characteristics of the cultivated grapes: Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. These varieties, nurtured with love and care, give rise to Champagne of rare beauty, characterized by vibrant freshness and an aromatic complexity that delights the senses.
Among the standout labels of the winery, the Brut Nature Premier Cru is a perfect example of the winemaking art of Georges Laval. This non-dosage Champagne offers a pure and crystalline expression of the terroir, with notes of citrus, white flowers, and a minerality that leaves an indelible mark on the palate. It is a wine that does not shy away from showing its authentic soul, making it an ideal companion for those seeking intense and unforgettable tasting experiences.
Let yourself be seduced by the excellence of the wines signed by Georges Laval on Vino45: an invitation to discover Champagnes that not only delight but also tell a story of respect for nature and passion for the art of winemaking.

THE MAISON

Rècoltant-manipulant from Cumières, a small village northwest of Epernay in the Vallée de la Marne, the maison Georges Laval has firmly pursued a philosophy of completely organic agriculture since 1971, which today earns it the ECOCERT certification. The management of the company is carried out by Vincent Laval, who works as a vigneron, continuing the work of his father while personally interpreting each vintage, preserving the nature and environment surrounding the vineyards, limiting human intervention in the Champagne’s journey.
The estate vineyards currently cover a total of about 2.5 hectares – of which about one hectare belongs to the "Les Hautes Chèvres" plot, a vineyard dating back to 1930 and one of the oldest in the entire terroir of Cumières – and are planted with the classic grapes of the AOC, namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. All vineyards are south-facing and fall under the classification of Premier Cru; about half of them are over 30 years old. Naturally, organic farming practices are followed between the rows, but not only that: to prevent pesticides used by potential neighbors from contaminating the vines, the Georges Laval winery also manages about thirty acres of land not owned by it with its own products, thus ensuring a continuity of organic practices.
Vincent Laval produces about 9,000 bottles per year, pure and complex Champagnes, characterized by a beautiful mineral length, that manage to authentically and clearly reflect the profile of their terroir of origin.
