Alto Adige DOC Chardonnay “Glarea” 2023 by Cantina Tramin takes its name from the Rhaeto-Romanic word for “gravel”, a tribute to the gravelly and calcareous soils of the alluvial fan of the Höllenbach stream, at the foot of Mount Roen and Mendola. The unique microclimate alternates warm days with cool nights, thanks to the cold winds of the Höllental valley, creating remarkable temperature shifts that enhance aromas and freshness. The hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed, ferment in wood at 19°C with partial malolactic fermentation, and mature in barriques, tonneaux and 12-hl casks. Bright straw yellow, with aromas of apple, banana and pineapple; on the palate it is harmonious, mineral, perfect with fish, white meats, fresh cheeses.

Cantina Tramin is a historic wine cooperative in South Tyrol, founded in 1898 by Christian Schrott, parish priest of Termeno and pioneer in enhancing the local wine heritage. Today, it brings together about 160 families of winegrowers who cultivate a total of 270 hectares of vineyards located between 250 and 850 meters above sea level, in an area characterized by strong temperature variations, diverse soils, and a microclimate ideal for grape ripening.
The production philosophy of Cantina Tramin combines tradition and innovation: agricultural practices respect the environment and promote biodiversity, while in the winery, winemaking is carried out with artisanal care and cutting-edge technology to enhance the varietal character.
