Antiche Cantine Migliaccio

Nestled among the magnificent cliffs and crystal-clear waters of the Island of Ponza, Antiche Cantine Migliaccio represents a jewel of Italian heroic viticulture. This corner of paradise, located in sunny Campania, is the stage on which unfolds a story of passion for the land and wine, rooted in past centuries. The winery, with its limited but character-rich production, is a tribute to the typicity and freshness of the local maritime grape varieties.
The vineyards, cultivated with care and dedication, overlook the sea, absorbing the salty breeze that gives the wines a distinctive imprint. The Biancolella and Forastera grapes, indigenous varieties that thrive in this unique microclimate, are masterfully transformed into wines that authentically tell the story of the territory. The Fieno di Ponza, in particular, is a sensory experience that captures the essence of the island: a white wine of great freshness and minerality, capable of evoking the sunny days and centuries-old traditions of Ponza.
The Antiche Cantine Migliaccio are a hymn to heroic viticulture, where each bottle is a small masterpiece that celebrates the beauty and strength of nature. Discover on Vino45 the wines of this extraordinary winery and let yourself be transported by the charm of Ponza and the authentic flavors that only such a special terroir can offer.

THE COMPANY

The Antiche Cantine Migliaccio have been a staple of viticulture on the island of Ponza since 1734, when the Neapolitan king Charles of Bourbon entrusted Pietro Migliaccio with the task of planting the vines of biancolella, forastera, guarnaccia, aglianico and piedirosso, in one of the most unreachable and uncontaminated plots of the island: Punta Fieno. It is precisely this inaccessibility, which can only be reached by swimming or after 40 minutes of impervious walk, that over time discouraged local winemakers, and only in 2000 did the vineyards of Punta Fieno return to their former glory thanks to the intervention of Emanuele Vittorio, descendant of the Migliaccio. The company uses modern techniques in the cellar regarding crushing and refining, while for all the rest we wanted to remain tied to the traditions that provide for a natural approach, without chemical additives, and manual processing. The heroic efforts of Emanuele, and the climatic conditions, create the conditions for the production of unique, warm, mineral, and intense wines, with a strongly Mediterranean spirit.

EXTREME WINES
Extreme wines are heroic wines, born from the toil, sweat, and industriousness of man; they are produced in often unknown, geographically challenging, sometimes impossible areas, and cultivated in tiny patches of land wrested from the mountains, rocks, and sea.
From Trentino-Alto Adige to Sardinia, from the Aosta Valley to the island of Pantelleria, from Valtellina to the Amalfi Coast, from the Cinque Terre to the slopes of Etna, ancient Enotria boasts a myriad of grape varieties that have survived wars, plagues, and the scourge of phylloxera.
Grape varieties that, thanks to the tenacity and passion of some small great winemakers, have been saved from oblivion and still today are capable of gifting Bacchus enthusiasts with extraordinary wines.
