The Traminer 'In Haiden' by Herbert Zillinger is a pure Traminer produced in Ebenthal, Gänserndorf district, Austria. The vineyards are 20 years old and the production is strictly organic. Harvested at the end of October, it undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks without temperature control. The oxidation of the must is followed by aging on the lees for 7 months. No filtration. A fruity white wine with hints of lychee and citrus and floral notes of rose petals. Followed by spicy notes of gingerbread and cardamom. On the palate, the great minerality stands out, the elegance of fruity and floral notes, and the spicy final notes that harmoniously lead to a long finish.

Herbert Zillinger

In the picturesque landscape of the Weinviertel, one of the most fascinating wine regions in Austria, the winery Herbert Zillinger stands as a beacon of innovation and passion. Here, among the rolling hills and vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see, Zillinger has carved out a prominent role in the natural wine scene, embracing a production philosophy that prioritizes the purity and complexity of flavors.
The Weinviertel region is renowned for its ability to produce white wines of extraordinary intensity, thanks to a unique microclimate and particularly suited soils. It is in this context that Herbert Zillinger diligently cultivates his vineyards, primarily Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, two varieties that lend themselves beautifully to expressing the territorial peculiarities. His obsessive attention to detail and respect for nature are reflected in every phase of the production process, from vineyard to cellar.
Among the standout labels, Radikal and Reflexion emerge as true works of oenological art. The Radikal, with its bold structure and enveloping aromas, embodies the distinct character of Grüner Veltliner, while the Reflexion, with its fresh and vibrant notes, offers a refined interpretation of Riesling. These wines are not just beverages, but sensory experiences that tell a story of land, sun, and skilled hands.
We invite all enthusiasts to discover the extraordinary creations of Herbert Zillinger on Vino45. A journey to explore an authentic and surprising wine-producing Austria, capable of evoking emotions with every sip.

THE ESTATE

Herbert Zillinger is located in Ebenthal (Gänserndorf district) in the Weinviertel (Lower Austria) - the most productive wine region in Austria with 15,800 hectares of vineyards. The soil is marl-limestone with the presence of gneiss, granite, sandstone, and typical loess sediments (a layer of fine sand similar to silt composed of silicates, quartz, feldspar, mica, and other minerals). The climate is continental in temperature and oceanic in humidity, with fairly low average annual temperatures (9-10°C) and sustained precipitation (400-600 mm). All these factors give the wines great elegance, minerality, acidity, and aromatic complexity. The characteristics that distinguish the winery are: high quality and production diversity (indigenous varieties such as Gruener Veltliner and Traminer are favored) and cultivation conducted according to organic farming practices.
