THE WINE
The Pecorino 'Centovie' by Umani Ronchi is a pure Abruzzese native wine with ancient origins, highly representative of what the whites of this region can offer. The grapes come from the estate located in Roseto degli Abruzzi and are cultivated using organic methods. It has a good body, a nice fresh and mineral vein, and a finish of good persistence enhanced by aging in wood. Refinement and modernity of Marchigian viticulture.
THE COMPANY
The winery Umani Ronchi is one of the historic, large, and most well-known production realities in the Marche region. Its strength and the secret of its success lie in its continuous ability to renew itself and the courage to question itself, constantly improving production while remaining updated on the latest trends, with feet firmly planted in the company traditions and those of the territory. It was founded in 1957 by Gino Umani Ronchi in Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio production, and today boasts extensive properties not only in the Castelli di Jesi area but also in Conero and Abruzzo. For over 50 years, it has been managed by the Bianchi Bernetti family, who, thanks to the efforts of Massimo and later his son Michele, have been able to enhance and promote the labels produced worldwide.
The winery Umani Ronchi has successfully undergone a significant transformation, converting hundreds of hectares of vineyards to organic farming, thanks to the expertise of agronomist Luigi Piersanti. The renewal and modernization have involved all production, capable of uniting the typical traits of the territory, the varietal character of the grapes, and a modern and elegant style. Each production site is equipped with its own winery, according to the principle of ‘three wineries for three territories’: Osimo, where great reds are born; Castelbellino, the cradle of Verdicchio, and Montipagano, the Abruzzese headquarters.
The name Umani Ronchi has always been associated with the excellence of two renowned oenological specialties: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Conero, based on Montepulciano. Alongside these, in recent years, Abruzzese wines have also been produced starting from native varieties that have quickly gained great success. The identification and enhancement of highly suitable vineyards have allowed the Bianchi Bernetti family to focus more and more on quality and territorial characteristics. After more than half a century of history, this winery has managed to maintain a reference role in the regional wine scene.
