THE WINE
The 'Plenio' Reserve from Umani Ronchi is born in the Torre vineyard, in Cupramontana, the capital of Verdicchio. It is undoubtedly the flagship Verdicchio of the Marche winery, a wine of exceptional consistency that stands out for its elegance and refinement. The name comes from the Latin 'plenum', which well expresses the characteristics of fullness, complexity, and structure of this white wine, which is appreciated precisely for these traits. It has vanilla aromas, ripe fruit, and aromatic herbs, along with excellent structure, freshness, and softness. Excellent.
THE COMPANY
The winery Umani Ronchi is one of the historic, large, and most well-known production realities in the Marche region. Its strength and the secret to its success lie in its continuous ability to renew itself and in the courage to question itself, continuously improving production while staying updated on the latest trends, all while firmly rooted in both company traditions and those of the territory. It was founded in 1957 by Gino Umani Ronchi in Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio production, and today boasts vast properties not only in the territory of the Castelli di Jesi but also in Conero and Abruzzo. For over 50 years, it has been managed by the Bianchi Bernetti family, who, thanks to the work of Massimo and then his son Michele, have managed to enhance and promote the labels produced worldwide.
The winery Umani Ronchi has successfully undergone a significant transformation, converting hundreds of hectares of vineyard to organic farming, thanks to the expertise of agronomist Luigi Piersanti. The renewal and modernization have involved the entire production, capable of combining the typical traits of the territory, the varietal character of the grapes, and a modern and elegant style. Each production site is equipped with its own cellar, according to the principle of 'three cellars for three territories': Osimo, where the great reds are born; Castelbellino, the cradle of Verdicchio, and Montipagano, the Abruzzo location.
The name Umani Ronchi has always been associated with the excellence of two renowned oenological specialties: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Conero, based on Montepulciano. In recent years, Abruzzo wines have also been produced from native varieties that have quickly gained great success. The identification and enhancement of highly suitable vineyards have allowed the Bianchi Bernetti family to increasingly focus on quality and territorial typicity. After over half a century of history, this winery has managed to maintain a reference role in the regional wine panorama.
