The Rosé 'Rock Angel' by Château d’Esclans is an excellence of Provence, a rosé with a creamy and soft sip, made from a blend of Grenache and Rolle (Vermentino) grapes, partially aged in large wooden barrels. It expresses all the finesse of a now legendary domaine, an absolute reference in the world of rosés, with a particular profile that is richer and more complex, enhanced by the choice of a partial vinification in wood. The rosé thus acquires a broader aromatic spectrum, without losing the refined freshness that represents its stylistic note. Delicate aromas of orange blossom, white flowers, lemon zest, grapefruit, raspberry, currant, wild strawberries, and iodized sensations. A delicate, harmonious, and multifaceted taste, with a savory and fresh finish.

THE ESTATE

Chateau d'Esclans is a legendary name for all Rosé enthusiasts. It is a historic domaine that produces excellent wines in the heart of the wonderful region of Provence. The estate is located in an extraordinary place, about twenty kilometers northwest of Fréjus, a small village of ancient Roman origins. In this land, viticulture has very ancient origins. In 600 B.C., the Phocaeans founded the city of Marseille, bringing with them the Greek culture of vine cultivation, which was later taken up and expanded under Roman domination. Even in the time of the Gauls, the site where the domaine now stands served as a watchtower to oversee the entire Gulf of Frejus. The foundations of the current building's cellars rest on these ancient original structures and symbolize the deep connection with the region's traditions.
Château d’Esclans represents one of the finest excellences of Southern France and is famous for its extraordinary production of high-end Rosé. The estate covers a total area of 267 hectares, of which 74 are dedicated to vineyards. The most cultivated grape varieties are the classic ones of Provence: Grenache, Vermentino, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Tibouren, and the ubiquitous Merlot. The richness of the domaine lies in a heritage of old Grenache vines over 90 years old, which produce grapes of the highest quality, with particularly intense and elegant aromas. To maintain the integrity of the grapes, the harvests take place only in the early hours of the morning, with careful selection of the clusters in the vineyard.
The grapes are once again selected upon arrival at the winery, using a manual and optical sorting table, to ensure that only the perfect clusters proceed in the production process. Before vinification, the grapes are destemmed. The grapes undergo cold maceration at a temperature of 8 °C before being pressed very gently to extract only the free-run juice. For the production of Rosé, a brief contact in the press with the skins is used to obtain wines with a very pale pink color and subtle, fresh, and elegant aromas. The labels of Château d’Esclans represent an essential model for anyone in the world who wants to produce rosés.
