The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG “Vigna Marrucheto” 2020 Castello Banfi comes from three selected parcels of the Marrucheto vineyard, one of the estate’s most prestigious sites. Made from 100% Sangiovese, it expresses an elegant and refined style, enhanced by the 2020 vintage, marked by balance and optimal ripeness. Careful vinificationand extended aging in oak and bottle confer depth and harmony. On the nose it shows great sensory complexity with ripe red plum and white peach, delicate spices and balsamic hints. The palate is full-bodied, vibrant and taut, with soft, finely polished tannins and a long, balanced, persistent finish. Ideal with complex, aromatic and structured dishes, it is also perfect as a meditation wine.

THE COMPANY

Banfi was founded in 1978 through the will of Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani. From the beginning, the two brothers envisioned a large-scale project, integrating quality viticulture with a modern winery with the goal of always maintaining a high quality level for the wines produced. Alongside the Mariani family was Ezio Rivella, one of the greatest Italian oenologists, who immediately believed that due to the richness of the soil and the privileged microclimatic position, the acquired territories would have great development potential. During those years, the brothers John and Harry also acquired the historic Piedmontese winery Bruzzone, active since 1860 and specialized in the production of sparkling wines, to make it the Piedmont brand of the group, today Banfi Piemonte.
