Authentic expression of the territory of Montepulciano, this Noble Wine is born from Sangiovese grapes (Prugnolo Gentile) cultivated in the Tenuta Calimaia of Frescobaldi, a historic area considered one of the most suitable, between the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia, on clay and sandy soils at about 300 meters s.l.m. The manual harvest precedes a fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins to extract structure and aromas. The wine then ages in oak barrels for 24 months, completing its journey with a bottle aging period. It presents itself with a deep ruby red color. On the nose, notes of ripe cherry, violet, sweet spices, and tobacco emerge. The taste is elegant and enveloping, with silky tannins, good freshness and mineral persistence.

Frescobaldi

Nestled in the marvelous Tuscan lands, where time seems to have stopped to celebrate the beauty of nature and the art of winemaking, the Frescobaldi winery tells a story that spans generations. It is one of the oldest wine families in Italy, with roots that delve into a past rich in tradition and innovation. With a presence that encompasses the most prestigious denominations of Tuscany, such as the DOCG Chianti, Brunello, and Bolgheri, Frescobaldi stands out for a modern approach that never forgets to respect the history and terroir that surrounds it.
The Frescobaldi estates are a mosaic of winemaking excellence, where each vineyard is tended with dedication and love for the land. Here, under the warm Tuscan sun, grow grapes of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, each an expression of a unique territory and unmatched savoir-faire. The production philosophy of Frescobaldi is a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, where ancient wisdom merges with the most modern winemaking techniques to create wines with distinctive and unmistakable character.
Among the labels that compose the prestigious portfolio of Frescobaldi, Nipozzano and CastelGiocondo stand out, two wines that embody the essence of Tuscany. Nipozzano, with its enveloping structure and intense aromas, is the perfect companion for those wishing to explore the depth of Tuscan wines. CastelGiocondo, on the other hand, is a Brunello di Montalcino with a refined and complex character, capable of telling, sip after sip, the magic of a legendary territory.

THE WINE
An authentic expression of the territory of Montepulciano, this Nobile Wine is made from Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) grapes grown in the Tenuta Calimaia of Frescobaldi, a historic area considered one of the most suited, between the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia, on clay and sandy soils at about 300 meters s.l.m.. The manual harvest precedes a fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature, with skin maceration to extract structure and aromas. The wine then ages in oak barrels for 24 months, completing its journey with a bottle aging period. It presents with a deep ruby red color. On the nose, notes of ripe cherry, violet, sweet spices, and tobacco emerge. The palate is elegant and enveloping, with silky tannins, good freshness and mineral persistence.
THE COMPANY
No other Italian winery can boast the history, prestige, and vision of the Marchesi Frescobaldi. A Florentine family dedicated for thirty generations and for 700 years to the production of great wines, with the constant goal of being the most prestigious Tuscan producer. A reality that has always believed in respect for the territory, focuses on the excellence of its grapes, invests in communication and in the professionalism of human resources without ever forgetting respect for tradition and openness to research and experimentation. In 1855, they were the first in Tuscany to plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay in the estates of Nipozzano and Pomino. In 1894, they built in Pomino, a location not far from Florence, the first Italian winery capable of using natural gravity for transferring from barrels and distinguished themselves, during the same period, for introducing the “specialized vineyard.” In 1989, they purchased the Castelgiocondo estate in Montalcino and in 1995 inaugurated the Tenuta Luce della Vite in Montalcino, to which the Tenuta Conti Attems in Friuli was added in 2000. Recent exciting projects involve the control of the Tenuta dell’Ornellaia in Bolgheri in 2005, and in 2011 the inauguration of the modern winery of Ammiraglia in Maremma. All wines labeled “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are born from passion, experience, skill, and love for a chosen territory, Tuscany, which has become the ideal cradle of high-quality wines. With a vineyard area that currently totals nearly one thousand hectares, and an annual production of around seven million bottles, from the Chianti area to Pomino, from Montalcino to Maremma, the perfect knowledge of the environment and the uniqueness of the terroirs ensure a constant quality and a distinctive personality of the wines, all - without exception - exceptional. Labels from the “Marchesi Frescobaldi” are elegant and harmonious, balanced and engaging, exciting and unique.
