The Barbera d'Asti 'Ca' di Pian' by La Spinetta originates from the municipalities of Castagnole delle Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti, and Montegrosso d’Asti from 40-year-old vines. It is a Barbera with an unmistakable character. The aromas of blackberry and sour cherry provide great intensity and incredible pleasantness. It is a wine that is enveloping yet fresh and extremely versatile. The maceration and fermentation last about 15 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in second-passage French oak barrels, followed by aging for about 12 months. Bottle aging lasts for about 6 months. It has a pleasant bouquet with hints of small red fruits, spirit-soaked cherries, and dog rose. On the palate, it is elegant and enveloping, with herbaceous and spicy notes. The finish is broad and persistent.

THE WINE
The Barbera d'Asti 'Ca' di Pian' by La Spinetta originates from the municipalities of Castagnole delle Lanze, Costigliole d’Asti, and Montegrosso d’Asti from 40-year-old vines. It is a Barbera with a distinctive character. The aromas of blackberry and marasca cherry provide great intensity and incredible pleasantness. It is an enveloping wine but at the same time fresh and extremely versatile. The maceration and fermentation last about 15 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in second-passage French oak barrels, followed by aging for about 12 months. Bottle aging for about 6 months. Pleasant bouquet with hints of small red fruits, spirit-soaked cherry, and dog rose. On the palate, it is elegant and enveloping, with herbaceous and spicy notes. The finish is broad and persistent.
THE COMPANY

La Spinetta is today one of the most important wineries in Piedmont, a true point of reference for the production of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is a family-run production reality that was established in 1977, when Giuseppe Rivetti, known as “Pin”, after getting married decided to move to the top of the hill of Castagnole Lanze, called La Spinetta. It was here that Giuseppe began to experiment with a traditional sweet wine from Piedmont, Moscato. Since then, many steps forward have been made, and the focus of production shifted to the creation of red wines, with the first Barbareschi emerging in the mid-1990s. From that moment on, the rise of the La Spinetta winery has been continuous, leading to great successes that prompted the ownership to expand beyond the borders of Piedmont, reaching Tuscany, where in 2001, they purchased 65 hectares between Pisa and Volterra. Today, La Spinetta is expertly managed by Giorgio, Bruno, and Carlo Rivetti, members of a family that has made hard work the secret of their success.
La Spinetta spans about 100 hectares of vineyards, acquired over time with great care. The vineyards enjoy excellent exposure to the south, southeast, and southwest, and the vines all have an average age ranging from 35 to 65 years, ideal for producing expressive and compact wines. The wines of La Spinetta are born exclusively from native grape varieties, which historically belong to the areas where they grow and develop. This is a decidedly prudent choice, aimed at enhancing the territory, avoiding the uniformity of flavors that too often goes out of style. Nebbiolo first, Barbera, and Moscato are therefore the main grapes, cultivated with very low yields and with meticulous work, because only from careful daily care of the vineyard can great wines be born.
It is precisely great bottles that should be discussed when looking at the range produced each year by the La Spinetta winery, where red wines are the undisputed stars of a production that speaks and tells the territory impeccably, bringing the oldest traditions of the Langhe to life in the light of the most modern technologies. Obviously, one cannot help but fall in love with the different labels dedicated to Barbaresco and Barolo, wines that, in every variation, are capable of astonishing, always reaching absolute perfection.
