The Barolo 'Garretti' by La Spinetta has a fine yet assertive character, thanks to the calcareous soil where the vines, about 70 years old, thrive. The biodynamic production method is used. Manual harvesting, fermentation in barriques, and aging for about 24 months in French oak barrels, with 50% new and 50% second-use. Finally, it is bottled and left to age for another 12 months. The bouquet unfolds in a range of aromas that span from red fruit to earthy notes of mushroom, from toasted to dried fruit. On the palate, it presents its structure, a beautiful union of finesse and power, as evidenced by the pronounced but silky tannin. The lifespan of this Barolo is extensive.

THE WINE
The Barolo 'Garretti' by La Spinetta presents a fine yet determined character, thanks to the calcareous soil where the vines, approximately 70 years old, reside. It uses a biodynamic production method, manual harvesting, fermentation in barriques, and aging for about 24 months in French oak barrels, with 50% new and 50% second use. Finally, it is bottled and left to age for another 12 months. The bouquet unfolds a range of aromas that span from red fruits to earthy notes of mushroom, from toasted to dried fruit. On the palate, it presents its structure, a beautiful union of finesse and power, as evidenced by the pronounced yet silky tannin. The lifespan of this Barolo is very broad.
THE COMPANY

La Spinetta is today one of the most important wineries in Piedmont, a true point of reference for the production of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is a family-run business that started in 1977 when Giuseppe Rivetti, known as “Pin,” decided to move to the top of the hill of Castagnole Lanze, called La Spinetta, after getting married. It was here that Giuseppe began to experiment with a traditional sweet wine of Piedmont, Moscato. Since then, many steps have been taken forward, and the focus of production shifted to the creation of red wines, with the first Barbareschi emerging in the mid-1990s. From this moment on, the rise of the La Spinetta winery has been continuous, so much so that great successes led the owners to expand beyond the borders of Piedmont, venturing into Tuscany, where they acquired 65 hectares between Pisa and Volterra in 2001. Today, La Spinetta is skillfully directed by Giorgio, Bruno, and Carlo Rivetti, members of a family that has made hard work the secret of their success.
La Spinetta spans approximately 100 hectares of vineyard, acquired over time with great care. The vineyards enjoy excellent exposure, facing south, southeast, and southwest, and all the vines have an average age between 35 and 65 years, ideal for producing expressive and compact wines. The wines of La Spinetta are exclusively made from indigenous grape varieties that historically belong to the areas where they grow and develop. This is a very prudent choice aimed at enhancing the territory, avoiding the uniformity of flavors that too often goes out of fashion. Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Moscato are therefore the main grapes, cultivated with very low yields and with meticulous care, because only through attentive daily care of the vines can great wines be born.
It is precisely great bottles that one must talk about when looking at the range produced each year by the La Spinetta winery, where red wines are the undisputed stars of a production that speaks and tells the territory impeccably, bringing the oldest traditions of the Langhe to life with the light of the most modern technologies. Of course, one cannot help but fall in love with the various labels dedicated to Barbaresco and Barolo, wines that, in every variation, are capable of surprising, always reaching absolute perfection.
